Seriously though....I like some of the takedowns and throws in judo but how effective are they when done on concrete parking lots? I was not able to view the vidios because I'm at work and there is a block on using that type of media.

Yeah, very. If you can get off a good throw on a parking lot, chances are that's the end of the fight. Throws are hard to perfect, though. The often-used rule at a Judoka Dojo is: One year for newaza (ground technique), TEN YEARS for nagewaza (Throwing technique)". Still, just picking a guy up and throwing him on the concrete works. Like , in this dumb*ss clip of two punks fighting. Sorry about posting this crap, but this is what I found to illustrate the point.

A high amplitude throw on concrete is really no more effective than anywhere else (i.e. a ring or cage). People get KOed all the time by getting dumped on their head in a cage. The main difference is the harder surface will be damaging to bony protrusions (knees, elbows, shoulders) moreso than a mat will be. Also, if dumped onto the head the harder surface could cause cutting and bleeding of the skin but the relative concussive force is still mostly the same... it's going to rattle your brain. You will more than likely be KOed by either one. If you are slammed flat on your back on concrete or in a cage you won't really be able to tell the difference. If you tried to break your fall with an elbow or something you would definitely feel the difference there. If I'm gonna be slammed on something I want it to be big and fluffy.

A most astute observation, I agree. The video I should have put up was the Rampage vs. Arona body slam KO, which I will, here. This is an awesome thing, beautiful. That, plus nobody deserves a body slam in Pride more than Arona, make this a shining moment in the world of MMA. Have a look.

While the slam there did some damage I think the incidental headbutt on the recoil caused the most damage in that one. It actually split Rampage's head open.

Yeah, I've heard that the KO is diputed in many circles b/c of that. Either way, still glad Arona got KTFO. That's just me, though.
