I agree with Mei Hua in regards to BBJ "heh thats a hilarious acronym btw" Anyways Bujinkan (when I was practicing it about two years ago) seemed very practical and effective to me. However I am not very expierenced overall. One principal of Ninjitsu is not to restrict yourself to kata and always learn and grow from other arts and how you implement them. I think ultimatly that is what needs to be taken in to perspective. Hatsumi says "Understand, Good, Play." And I thnk much could be learned from more so the life teachings behind it rather than the tactics itself. And I agree with the fanboy comment, everyone wants to be a ninja. Or a pirate, whatever. All that being said any art is effective if you master it, Bujinkan is no exception
