Rep Power: 145 | | | atemi points had a very brief introduction to this last night
by buddha they're fu<<!ng painful when hit
does anybody here train them?
they're quite tricky to find on some people
as every body tends to be ennerviated slightly differently
but there's no mistake when you get it
also was told you cant do it to yourself
how weird is that?

Rep Power: 81 | | | atemi points, Japanese term huh?
It should be common practice in your CMA. Particlarly chin na skills.
But many arts have a good deal of specific applications designed to be vital, pain compliance or pressure points.
Some points are all of the above, some are just one ie. just pain compliance but neither vital nor pressure point(qi meridian or Plexus)

Rep Power: 5 | | | I've read that the chinese doctors of old were the first to really use/ study this type of thing. Its funny, because the place that I learned the most about these points was not in MA classes, but in massage therapy school. These spots were taught to us as places we should only use very little pressure at or even avoid completely. Out of curiosity I compared some of the points that we were to be wary of to accupruncture points and just about all of the points coincided. I think that all martial arts use these points whether they are taught with names such as lv 296734 or not. |

Rep Power: 81 | | | Again most any martial art with any depth incorporates these skills into the curriculum and training.
Strike, press, grind, stab, Divide. It really depends on the desire result/reaction.

Rep Power: 100 | | | Each body is the same all built the same way. The yin yang of it is healing or hurting through the same point. In Chin-Na Ju jitsu Dim Mak or the blade arts many of the targets are the same.
The same is almost true for each system, nerves blood, muscle, bone organs etc...

Rep Power: 220 | | Indeed, training these aspects are a boon to any martial artist, whether for healing or for martial application.
You may not always use them or get the chance, but when you do, take it.
A good thread about this is here, it's about the healing aspects and points but can be easily adapted to a martial application and pain compliance, there are also some charts for point location. |
