Rep Power: 0 | | Kata Question... Does anyone know a kata called Ma Wah Daisy? It's a kata in the style I take, and no one on another website I am on has heard of it. Just looking to see if it is taught outside of the system I take. (Yon Ch'uan) |

Rep Power: 36 | | | I have heard of Yon Chuan. (Soft fist?) I havent heard of Ma Wah. I think its a town in New Jersey...and Daisy is a name of a hooker I met there. It is funny, but MaWah Daisy is what I called her....
On a serious note, no I do not know what that is. I even tried Googling it. Nothing. Have you learned it? Perhaps it is known as another name. There are many TCMA people here who may be able to help. Sorry that I cant, though. Welcome aboard, BTW.

Perhaps it is a kata solely in your system or created by one of your masters/instructors.....

Rep Power: 9 | | | ok, I'm guessing here, Yung Chun is Manderin for Wing Chun. Moi-Fa (cantonese)Mei-Wha in manderin. (Hey Mei-Hua-how come ya didn't catch this???!!LOL) means plum flower, which is actually what the system was referred to in some mainland versions. Dai might mean large, and see...um, dunno. It could be referring to some large plum flower set..or something. I am guessing you have only heard it spoken and not seen it written.
Do you have a link to its website or something?

Rep Power: 150 | | | I googled Yon Chuan -- it's different from Yung Chun -- its origins are Taoist.
I agree in the thinking that "Ma Wah Daisy" maybe is a terribly mispronounced version of "Mei Hua" (Moi Fa). I don't know why "Daisy" would be appended to the end of the term.
Then again it may not be a plum flower form. It could be "Ma (Horse)" "Wah (Jade)" and ... um ... "Daisy"... So, a form about a jade horse named Daisy?
I have an idea -- ask your sifu?

Rep Power: 0 | | | I appreciate the good advice.... and the ridiculas answers... "Ask Your Sifu?" WTH... I didn't ask for lineage here... I was asking who has seen or heard of it. Just because it isn't on the internet doesn't mean other people might not of seen it or performed it.
I'll check into it possibly having been mispronounced somewhere along the way.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I took a look on you tube at various videos of "Mei Hua" and did not see anything similar at all. Thanks though.
It is a Northern Mantis style form as I am told by my Sifu. I DID do my hw before I came on and asked. I am simply seeing who else has done this form. |

That's your best bet, if no one here has ever heard of that form or think it is misspelled or incorrect, you should listen to them and ask your Sifu for clarification on name and origins so you can track it down better and see if it's a made up hog wash or a real form. |

Rep Power: 150 | | | There's several styles of Northern Mantis too, so good luck finding this form. Was the name exactly as written or did you just hear it pronounced "Mah Wah Daisy"?

Rep Power: 220 | | | Aye, Northern Mantis has a few Mei Hua (Mah Wah is the incorrect spelling) named forms, but nothing that would be called 'Daisy" as there would be no reason to call something Plum Flower Daisy |

Rep Power: 34 | | | Unless it's a baaadd mispronunvciated & it could be some thing like Dai Si. But that word makes no sense at all... so it's still not that I think.
