Yeah, at my school when we test we have to do all previous material from previous sashes as well as the new material so our tests can be really long too. We don't get our sashes taken away or demoted though. I never understood that. How can you make someone a black belt and then say no your not a black belt? They still poccess (sp?) the knowledge of a black belt/sash weather they have the actual belt or not. You can't take away someones knowledge because it's not a tangible thing.

I Know a MMA school here and they teach BJJ and in order to get your next belt you have to be able to hang on the mat with someone of that belt your going for. So if your a brown belt going for black you have to be able to hold your own with the black belt. But you also have to know the moves as well. But lets say you only beat that person 1 or 2 out of 10 times you aren't going to get that next belt.

I had to fight my teacher/owner of the school plus fight 2 other teachers there for my black sash. I would have probably had to fight any black sash student we had IF we had had any but I was John Dufresne's first black sash student in the school. I guess I got lucky in that case....lol.
