Rep Power: 12 | | | I cant wait! lol. Most of my experience has been with Boxing, It'll be different hitting somebody with out gloves. I wonder though, how many people get their teeth literally knocked in from not wearing ANY protective gear???....My seem like a silly question but is the injury rate very high in Kyokushin?

Rep Power: 0 | | | I think it's too dangerous for these guys to hit each other in the head.
My friend is a 3rd dan at a Kyokushin school. They work you hard. They are solid fighters and they hit damn hard. If your interested in Kyokushin just go for it. You have other MA background and that would probably initially be more prevailant if you fight without thinking. Kyokushin will condition you well and really prepare you mentally. In my opnion it's the best Karate available and even fairs well with other, more proven styles.
Good luck!

Rep Power: 12 | | | Thanks I'm really looking forward to my first class! I don't have extensive MA background mostly Boxing. But I've been doing more research on it and; this may seem laughable to some. But watching some tournaments on youtube, just get a feel of what Kyokushin looks like. I love how intense it seems.

I know a guy who had (has?) a pretty close relationship with Oyama, he sure won't hesitate to punch your face...

he's one mean mo-fo

it came in later to protect the hands of the fighters

Rep Power: 29 | | | Yeah, I heard in the old days that sparring only had one rule "Don't get knocked out." |

Rep Power: 100 | | | in kyokushin it's probably the most important rule tho....
in a black belt exam (after performing all the stuff you had to do for all other belts...)
you have to fight 30 2 min matches
99.9% of the people cannot win all that
but getting back on your feet and continue is what's valued with that
that shows if you have a kyokushin spirit
if you want to know more
try to see "Fighter in the Wind"
great movie 'bout Oyama

Rep Power: 12 | | | ....30X 2 min fights!? Like non stop? lol wow I think the most I've EVER done was 6X 2min rounds of Boxing against different people in the gym. Chief that's crazy. Sounds exciting though. Well I guess if/when I get that far up the belt ladder my, goal should be to win 33% lol. Didn't Oyama do 3X 100 man kumites back to back one time?
