Rep Power: 63 | | | I think anything you find that does all that and cost less than 100 bucks (new) will probably break in 6 months or be just in general poor quality.
To be honest...even the half decent cheap ones usually cost over 150 USD.

Rep Power: 63 | | | It's not in your price....but I've heard (firsthand) a few good things about Dell mp3 players. I think they do all that you ask but record....that's not really a standard feature and will probably cost more.
And most will use usb 1 or 2, not smart cards or the like simply because it's not necessary due to the players size and the usb capabilities.
Being able to use the formats with pics is pretty much all software based. Once you save the mp3s to your computer...being able to manipulate them will depend on programs you have installed (ie changing mp3's to another format).
The player might come with software to change your recorded music on your pc to mp3....but if not....there are sooo many free programs online that will do this that you have nothing to worry about.

Rep Power: 127 | | | I'd have to agree with X893 on that. You might be able to find a decent one for that price in a few months or so.

Rep Power: 100 | | | creative labs has the muvo ones from $59 to $120, though they don't have the smart media cards for extra storage... They use usb2.0 and are flash memory so no moving parts , they look ok from the description but I don't know anyone that has one.

Rep Power: 63 | | I dont either. I looked at the specs for it though. It pretty much has to have some sort of extra storage (ie flash/smart cards) because it only holds 256mgs. Usually when you go from cd audio to mp3 each song takes, on average, 5mgs.
The better quality mp3 players (such as dell, ipod etc) usually hold at least 4gigs...which is about 20 times the info, so you dont really need external saving devices like the flash/smart cards.
Well...based on what you are looking for....
This: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1730979,00.asp
seems to be a good deal to me. I remember when this first came out it got (still gets) rave reviews.
I dont know anyone that owns one....but it has nice specs....and 5 gigs (5000mgs) of storage, it's extremely compatible with Windows media player 10 (newest version...free download from microsoft website) which has great file transfer speeds and file conversion built in.
Full review http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1730981,00.asp
Full specs here http://www.crutchfield.com/S-X6xjoHo...sp?i=053ZENTCH
It also has the built in voice recording capabilities you want.
If the other creative touch one that you mentioned has similar capabilities but smaller storage then it's probably ok. If I had the money I would go with this one personally

Rep Power: 64 | | Dell Jukeboxes are decent players, they mimic iPods well but are cheaper. Creative's MuVo isn't so much of an MP3 player as an attachment for USB flash drives. The main problem you'll run into here is space since flash drives tend to be 1GB or more commonly less. You'd either have to change your play list every day or like listening to the same 50 songs ( rough estimate for 128 - 256 size range. )
I don't know what's coming down the pipe since I don't follow it much and I have no plans to buy a digital media player. I've got my laptop and my MP3 car deck and that's great for me since I've got it when I'm at home, at work, in class, or driving between the three. However, check out a previous thread on this.
My coworker has a Rio and it seems pretty nice. The bookmarking feature makes it good to listen to audio books since you can "pause" for extended time blocks. I like the features on iRiver products ( on paper at least. ) The FM tuner is particularly nice in my eyes.

I agree Jaron... that iriver does look good on paper. Perhaps one day we'll all have extra dinero for those types of extravagant purchases!!!
