Rep Power: 86 | | Well the time has come.... I am driving up to San Francisco Thursday to participate in my second tournament. It will be Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong's International Plum Blossom Federation Tournament. First time I have participated in this particular one.
I am going to do a fan form. And since I have not had time to learn any green sash forms, I will be doing the same form (as a yellow sash) that I choked on in my first tournament. Time for some redemption! Gonna put all that good advice people gave me regarding that to use.
I will also be doing Tai Chi form and push hands for the first time.
I am looking forward to it. Is anyone else on this board going to be there?
Wish me luck!

Good luck! Before you start your form, take a cleansing breath, relax your body so it can flow, and focus your mind. Imagine that your life depends on performing each technique to it's full extent with speed and power, this will sharpen/shape your intent. I like to imagine an opponent while I'm doing the form. It seems to work; for a few minutes the audience and judges fade away as I vanquish my enemy.
In the end, the judges see my intent and score accordingly, even if they are not familiar with our forms and style. Of course, after I perform and sit down I get all shaky and nervous, even after they call my name as the winner!

hands are hard, fast, continuous & alive
