Rep Power: 20 | | | well seeing as i graduated high school in 2004 it was a while a go..i think this was grade 7 or 8 that it happened. so wow...that was in the 1990's...the late '90s but still....it really doesnt seem that long ago..and ya nothing was taken as seriously or as blown out of proportion as it is now!

Rep Power: 153 | | | That's funny, I thought things were blown out of proportion back in the early 90s compared to when I was in school -- things change a lot I guess.
When I was in middle school in the early 80s there were still race riots happening there & at the local high school. Between planned fights where groups of kids would rush each other, to people getting jumped in the halls. Nowadays all the kids involved, usually guys, would be in jail charged with hate crimes. Back then it was detention, suspension, very rarely an expulsion.
These days a kindergartner hugs a friend on the playground and he's charged with sexual assault.

There was a lot of rape, gang fights, drinking, smoking, and lots more.
That school was so horrible, I hope I never go there in my life again.

There are gangs everywhere. Yes even in Utah. Recently a lot of people have left California and come to Utah, including a lot of Mexican, Tongan, Samoan, and other ethnic type gangs.
To be fair though - there are plenty of your 'Wangsta's' - but nowadays most of the population under 18 could be called that the way they dress and the 'music' they listen to.
