Rep Power: 111 | | | Storytime: What is your favorite? Storytelling is an art, and its an art where all sorts of lessons can be taught. Largely it is up to the listener as to how he will interpret the stories though.
My favorite types of stories have always been Greek Mythology and other Folklore. Their deceptive simplicity and directness do it for me.
The stories are always so simple and yet so profound. Some people like things very complex, but once these veils are lifted away there remains the core themes of these very basic stories.
Although I can not name a lone story to tag as my favorite, I am very partial to stories concerning redemption and change.
What types of stories do you all enjoy hearing/reading

I had thought "the tortoise and the hare" was one of Aesop's Fables, but I didn't see it on here...

Rep Power: 19 | | | Speaking of Greek lore,I read a very interesting anecdote about Plato.
Plato once had a rival philosopher named Diogenes.Diogenes was called the founder of modern cynicism. One day Diogenes went to visit Plato at his school. He was disgusted to see the elaborate, pricy carpeting lining the floor in the front hall.It was a gift donated by one of Plato's many admirers and/or students.
Diogenes knew that PLato's philosophy emphasized on a Buddha-like lifestyle, and he steered away from idle wealth and material gain,so when he saw Plato's school decorated so lavishly,he swaggered in front of Plato and several onlookers, and scrapped and stomped his shoes on the carpet. To do so was an insult in those days, and Diogenes knew it.
"Thus do I trample on the pride of Plato!",he shouted.
Plato walked up to Diogenes and responded, calmly,
"You do so with greater pride."
