Rep Power: 8 | | | shoulder injury Yesterday, I did some hand-stand push-up. My max is usually about three before losing balance. As I walked back to the locker room I notice trouble lifting my arm to unlock my locker. I was unable to do circular motion without pain to my shoulder joint. The good news is I did not tear my shoulder or else I could not do a handstand. This morning I can barely raise my right arm without assistance from my left. I know I should ice the shoulder last night but going to do some heat treatment tonight. Also some qigong and tai ji to try to see if I can get better circulation to shoulder and help heal. Shoulder injury takes long time to heal and wonder if anyone had similar problem with suggestions to speed up the healing process. Much appreciated.

Rep Power: 100 | | | I would suggest to see a good doctor on sports injuries NOW. If you cannot lift your arm, there is something pressing on the nerv, or the nerv is damaged.

Rep Power: 8 | | | Yeah, I got an appointment on Saturday morning with Orthopaedic. I did tear my shoulder when I was young and fell out of a tree. The right shoulder pops sometimes when I bench press.
My doctor said I didn't tear my shoulder. He press his hand cup shape on my shoulder and that allow me to rotate my shoulder. He's more worry about ligaments but he doesn't think its tendons. I'll keep you guys inform on Saturday. Maybe a MRI.

Rep Power: 111 | | | I forget the name of it, but there is a ligament in the shoulder that really doesn't have a known purpose. But sometimes it can swell and prevent full motion of the arm. A shoulder specialist Sports Doctor gave a lecture on shoulder injuries last year and talked about this.
But definitely take it easy until you get medical advice.

Rep Power: 127 | | | Had the same problem a few months back. Went to see our accupuncturist, 2 visits later... I was all good. But I did wait for a week and a half before seeing him, got lucky on that one.

Handstand pushups are hard on the shoulder joint as are any type of incline presses or flys.
Don't have much advice on the injury - you should prob just listen to your doc, go for physio, acupuncture etc..
If your shoulder is prone to injury though you might want to try incorporating some rotator cuff exercises into your weight training - a lot of shoulder injuries come from an imbalance in the shoulder caused by incorrect training. | |
