Rep Power: 100 | | | Probably depends on what Frank has left in the tank. How old is he now ? And when did he compete last ?

Rep Power: 164 | | | Frank put up a decent fight against Renzo Gracie about a year ago until he b**ched out and broke the rules, earning him a DQ... Renzo was handing him. Frank's standup looked crisp and very good but Renzo took him down at will and controlled him from the top position.
A few months ago Frank fought Phil Baroni with a torn ACL and absolutely toold him. Beat him deciively in the stand-up and then choked him unconscious on the ground.
Frank is still a contender, no doubt. It should be a good fight. Lately Frank's strengths have been in his stand-up. Cung has not been tested. If Cung wins it will solidify his position as a contender.
Sadly, this promotion is shrouded in controversy of works (fake fights) and paid off fighters. I will wait to give my opinion until after I see the fight.

Rep Power: 100 | | | If, hypothetically spoken, Frank already planned retirement anyways (for age, or health reasons), throwing a fight for a nice retirement purse isn't totally off.

Rep Power: 36 | | | I've only seen Cung Le fight a few times, and so I dont wanna go one way or the other. I'm taking the safe, non-commital route of "too close to call". From what I have seen (granted: times, they are a-changin') both have really good stand up skills, yet Frank may have the edge via submissions. If pressed, that is what I would say would be the determining factor in the bout. That, or a surprise TKO from Cung. Cam, I didnt hear about this Baroni pummeling, and I am happy at the news. Baroni gets on me nerves, he does. I'm gonna see if I can catch a glimpse via the www!

Rep Power: 164 | | | Wu, the fight is on YouTube, I think...
Frank looks at him and places his hands together like he is lying his head down, in a "you're going to beddy bye"... then commences to beat the living crap out of him. Baroni put up a heck of a fight and landed some great shots of his own but Frank owned him.

Rep Power: 100 | | Frank is still a very strong fighter, skilled and with shiploads of experience
if Cung can win this one it finally might stop (yeah... as if....) the discussions if he belongs in MMA
I would like to see a hard, tecnical fight with some great groundaction as well, ended by a well earned KO by Cung

Rep Power: 10 | | Man, I'm really excited about this fight. Cung is kind of a big deal around here, so this fight means a whole hell of a lot for him.
Shamrock is a much better grappler, but Cung is so freaking fast, and with his Sanda experience, it's going to be tough to get a hold of him.
A local radio station interviewed Shamrock the other day (107.7 The Bone, on the Lamonte and tonelli show) ( http://media.1077thebone.com/bone/fshamrock011608.mp3)
Sorry if the link doesn't work. I've already heard it, so I don't feel like downloading it. It's a great interview, even with the DJ's kissing Shamrock's ass. They don't talk about the fight so much, but Shamrock has a lot of personality and tells one of the hilarious-but-he-should-be-embarressed story about kicking some guys ass in a home depot parking lot.

Rep Power: 108 | | | I remember someone posting a link to an old article (maybe 5 years ago or so) before Cung was in the MMA scene. I'm not sure if it was this forum though. Basically, Frank Shamrock was talking about his training and he was working out with Cung (apparently they are friends). Frank mentioned Cung was very very difficult to take down and was schooling him in stand up...which is what the purpose was since Cung was helping Frank train.
I will go with a "too close to call". Every fight Cung has been in has been a clear victory where he totally outclasses his opponent. I have yet to see him deal with anyone in a "crisis" moment. I will still be pulling for Cung though.

Rep Power: 35 | | | All I can say about this fight is: I seriously hope that Cung wins. I discovered Cung Le through this very website, and have since become quite the fan. Frank is also a favorite fighter of mine, but I just can't get over HOW Cung fights, and I seriously hope he shows just how capable he is, however the likelihood is Frank will submit him; even with Cung's recent ground training, he is new to it and Frank is not. |
