Rep Power: 13 | | | Elite XC fight Saturday night on CBS So did anyone watch this? What was your opinion if you did? I would have to say IMO some good fights but some of the stoppages were ridiculous.....

Did Primetime CBS do it justice, or did they suck it up? |

Rep Power: 90 | | | MMA’s network debut mocks true sport It sounded like such a good idea when the news broke a few months ago that CBS would broadcast a series of mixed martial arts cards in prime time.
But after watching its effort on Saturday’s Elite XC show from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., the good news might be if CBS opts not to do another show.
These were supposed to be the professionals who would show the amateurs at the Ultimate Fighting Championship, who do their own production, how it’s supposed to be done. MMA's network debut mocks true sport - MMA - Yahoo! Sports |

Rep Power: 147 | | | I went ahead and merged bobblehead's thread with nkyshaolin's thread.
But I did it bass-ackwards so now bobblehead's title shows up instead of the original "Elite XC" title.
But it's about the same fight so, chat away.
Edit: OK, title fixed.

Rep Power: 54 | | | Slice busted Thompson's (I think that's who it was) ear. He wouldn't have lasted much longer anyways.

Rep Power: 106 | | | It sucked HARDCORE...especially compared to WEC which was on Sunday night and had an great set of fights including Jens Pulver vs. Urijah Faber in a slugfest.

That fight was awesome!
And though Thompson's ear was sickening, I doubt it would have interfered much with the fight. It was stopped due to TKO right, or was it because of the ear? To me it seemed premature. |

Rep Power: 17 | | I know, I thought it was cute that he did cornrows just like the ladies do when they fight. It really is the smartest thing to do with long hair during competition. |

Rep Power: 13 | | | Wraith i agree totally...the WEC Card was outstanding! The Elite XC on CBS looked like a freaking local cable production compared to it. Although i thought the Lawler v. Smith fight was going to be a barn burner until that totally ridiculous stoppage! The problem i had with that show was that was probably the first time most people had watched an MMA fight and hopefully they didn't walk away with the opinion that all MMA is that way.

LOL! I said the same thing to my friends. I said, "He looks like a female boxer". I saw Clay Guida looking on with shame too...no joke.
But yeah, the card was awesome and from what I understood...EliteXC would basically be bankrupt if their show did poorly on Saturday. I doubt a big network would actually pick them up now, so the gimmick that is Kimbo is over.
As a side note, and to ride WEC's nuts some more, did anyone else notice how many UFC fighters were in the crowd? They didn't show them all up close like they did Silva or Liddell, but I saw quite a few in attendance. I know the hype behind Faber/Pulver was that it was a match everyone was interested in...but I got the impression it wasn't all BS-hype.
