Yeah man, right on! I feel that! In addition to your well taken point, people also state that Saku has fought not only the great Gracie Family during their heyday, but also fought top level competition continuously w/o a pause. I mean, whether win or lose, look at the man's dosier, who hasn't he fought? So yeah - you're on it big time.

I can see what you are saying about style match ups but Silva is a seasoned fighter and he seems to be a different beast after his loss to Chuck. His training, diet, aggressiveness are all signs of this. I think a second meet between the two would yield a different outcome.

I must say Silva looked "off" from the start in their bout.

Right on Toi..I feel your point in regards to Silva's newfound lease on fighting..I think I'll be more impressed when he fights a fighter that doesn't cater to his strenghts..for example, a fight Machida (won't happen), a fight with rashad evans, griffin, hammil, or even Franklin - I think would be better indicators of how well he's transitioning to the UFC and his success thereof.

Agreed. Machida would be one that I would like to see but your right, won't happen.

I don't want to see Silva fight Machida. Machida will get hit like twice the entire match and Silva will lose by points. It would be terrible. :P

Silva vs. Rampage THREE.

Jackson vs Silva 3 - yeah..now, I just don't know who it goes to. I'll say this, if Jackson doesn't stop bending at the knees in his attempt to duck and weave, he'll continuously get caught in Silva's clinch - and..well..you all saw what happened the two previous times..lol..if he keeps up that bad habit which makes him more prone to the thai clinch and/or knees, then we'll just name that event - UFC 99: Rewind..lol

Silva vs. Rampage THREE.

Now you're talking although this would be a bad fight for Rampage to take on at this point in his career. He is going to need a fight or two to help regain his sanity and more importantly his confidence.

The argument has been that Saku is actually the best MMA fighter to have lived and competed to date.

Though every time he met Silva.....

I think we need to be clear in regards to what is being said when we say "better" than Fedor. Skill wise - no. As dominating as Fedor - No. Could beat Fedor - hell no, not even in his prime.
We're saying, looking at the calibre of fighters that this man has fought, win/lose, he's consistently fought top competition in spite of the weight class advantages and disadvantages. If I'm correct, Sak's entire career is a long list of who's who in the top Middleweight, Lightheavy, and Heavyweight Divisions throughout Pride, Shooto, and other orgs. Given the man's history and even beating fighters that he should have lost to due to severe weight disadvantages alongside their fighting calibre, the argument could be made that Sak is the best to have ever competed. That's all we're saying.

Yes, well put.
I'll add a little more. This is entertainment. All professional athletes are essentially entertainers. If you look at my top three, i like them for entirely different reasons.
Silva? Pure intensity, just looking at opponents wins him bouts.
Fedor? Calm and collected, obvious work ethic and humble demeanor.
Which brings us to Saku.
I saw his Ufc debut with Conan live and literally stood up cheering when he eventually won. I mean here is this guy, in fluorescent shorts, who looks horribly mismatched and he submits Conan. He goes on to beat multiple Gracies, even with a couple Kimuras bringing the Japan vs Brazil history into it.
Humble, immensely skilled and for me, most importantly totally unorthodox. He had the stones to fight Silva THREE times. Crazy when many would not have considered it, especially under the head-stomp allowed rules, lol.
Oh yeah, and he's still fighting too!
