Rep Power: 100 | | | ANYTHING that burns for me too. Over the years I have grown many many hot peppers. The HOTTEST BY FAR are habanero peppers, scotch bonnets are really hot also. At one time I had about 50 habanero plants in my garden. Now have no garden. LOL. A hot sauce that really kicks it is called "Daves INSANITY SAUCE", if you can find it give it a try. The crew I ran with had a motto we stood by , "YOUR FOOD SHOULD HURT YOU".
Hot red peppers have been used to heal wounds. At one time I had ulcers and completely healed them by eating as many as I could get but only the red ones.
Heat in peppers is measured in what is called schoville(sp?) units. Named after the man that found a way to arrive at an exact numerical formula to answer the question "exactly how hot are those peppers"? These units are figured by calculating how much water it takes to neutralize the heat of said pepper. Just off the top of my head it seems as if habanero's were maesured at 600,000 Schoville units to jalepena(sp) 2,500 to 5,000 sc. units. As you can see there is no comparrison. That "Daves Insanity Sauce" is extracts from these peppers and as many of you know the extracted heat is much hotter than the entire hot pepper.
