OK. I have a very close female friend who has fallen for a guy in a chat room. Since I cannot make her see the danger that could be involved in this, (she has already given him her phone number and is planning to go meet him where he lives... in Australia) I am trying to find out some info on him. They met in a martial arts chat room and he has given her some "vital statistics". Although I think he is full of **it I told her I would ask here about what he has said. I would really appreciate any feedback about this, it could help someone from making a BIG mistake.
The guys name is Paul Ann, he lives in Australia and has told her that he is the head of the Hatsumi Masaaki lineage in Australia. He claims to be equivalent to a 14th degree black belt in this ninjitsu and says he runs six schools there. I know there are people here that live in Australia and could maybe let me know if they have ever heard of this guy. I have already emailed as many Hatsumi instructors as I could find, (they are Ninjas you know). I would really appreciate any feedback on this ASAP before she makes a huge mistake. She HAS asked me to post here for info on him. Thanks a bunch everyone I really appreciate your help.

Rep Power: 8 | | | I dont live in Australia, but I do practice Bujinkan, and I've never heard of this guy (Im pretty sure i'd know about a 14 dan). Plus I checked Bujinkan sites for schools in Australia, and none of the sites metioned this guy. If he runs six schools, the chances are he would have a website. From what I've seen, this guy sounds like a fake.

I live in Sydney Australia ive never heard of him though im a cma student not japanese.
STILL if i can help i would be happy to and the way you discribe this Paul Ann sounds very dodgey.
Private message me with some contact details for his school and i will get in contact with them and try see if there legit. I can just pretend im a joining student and have talked to him online. I will ask if they know him by name. If his grade is for real then they should.
Sounds VERY hokey to me though...
You can post the details here if you like, but bear in mind you may be posting details on a school with no relation to him and giving them a bad name in the process.

I looked all over the internet for schools in Australia and found some email addresses. All the people there who responded and are part of the lineage say the same thing. Never heard of him! Also they all agreed that if he was the head of the lineage in Australia as he claims they surely would have, or even if he had six different schools they surely would have heard his name before, let alone his "rank". I showed all these emails to my friend and now I will forward this discussion to her, although the emails seemed to convince her that he is a fake.
I cannot thank you all enough for your help, but now that she is convinced dont bother wasting any more time on this guy chasing after answers. I appreciate this, more than you will ever know... if anyone here ever needs my help and it is something I can do PLEASE don't hesitate to ask.

Rep Power: 111 | | | I just read this thread and am glad to hear that everything worked out well. I myself had a misfortunate online encounter in my youth...not too long ago. I'm very glad to hear she told you AND you were able to convince this guy is phony. You definitely have saved her from a lot of hassle, alot of money, and possibly her life.
