Rep Power: 87 | | Modern Day Ninja's for real??? I just caught part of a Discovery channel show on Martial arts. (Martial arts: way of the warrior)
They were talking to a Ninja Grandmaster. Honestly, I had really thought that Ninja style MA's was an extinct art with only wannabees (i.e. Bushido Kim types) pretending it still existed.
But this seemed like an authentic guy. Sounded like only a few still know it, but he was trying to re-spread this MA to the modern world.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. What do you all know about ninja's?

Rep Power: 26 | | | what don't i know about ninja's!!!! geez
i mean they run around in black costumes and kill people and cut their heads off and throw stars at each other and they have smoke bombs and katanas and they are the enemies of samurais and and and
ok i know nothing.
one thing i don't understand though is that modern ninjas or people who train in nijitsu have a code of honor and from what i know ninjas where jsut hired assasin.

Rep Power: 0 | | Ninjas you say? Those dudes are super sneaky and if you ask too many questions they will come for you!! You won't hear them coming either they move in silence.
No seriously, they are still ninjutsu schools in England - no idea if they're authentic at all. I practiced Bujinkan for a few months which is a combo of ninja and samurai arts - wasn't bad but a bit too weopon orientated for me. Allegedly the ninjas trained in all available martial arts from the cradle to the grave. |

Rep Power: 87 | | | Yeah, Ninja's seem like the stuff of legend, part history part myth. What role would a modern day Ninja have? Unfortunately, I came in part way through the show.
This Grandmaster in the show was in Japan and teaching in Japan.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I have trained as a ninja for 5 years. I am sure that some methods are different today and some methods are not taught anymore, but for the most part its the same...assuming that you have a good teacher. The ninja, or warrior sage, or member of the silent way, or whatever you want to call them, very rarely meddled in the affairs of man, only coming down from the mountains to change the course of history to their liking (or whoever paid them). They should have no desire to compete with others. Their only competition is with themselves, to perfect themselves. They know how good they are. The ultimate goal of the warrior sage is to reach a stage of enlightenment in which he will have no desire to fight. He will walk in harmony with nature and be at one with all. |

Rep Power: 127 | | | I saw that documentry as well, had it recorded but can't find the darn tape. We actually had someone that trained with us for a few days that claimed to have trained in the art of the ninja........ ummmm yeah.
I'm sure there may still be a few out there like Aqira just mentioned. And I'm also sure it nothing like the public believes.

Rep Power: 35 | | | Why shouldn't there be ninja running around?? There are Shaolin monks everywhere else!!
Besides, I trained in the Bujinkan for about 4 years. The stuff is cool, useful & viable but media hype & fan-boy dreamers need not apply.
The Genbukan & Jinenkan are the same way.
