Lohan is similiar among all styles, there is little variation in how it is done, if there is then it isn't Lohan.
It lacked power, strength, fluidity, it didn't have that crisp Lohan character to it, it wasn't Lohan, just like the other Lohan form you showed, it was not done properly, it was too soft, the positioning wasn't correct, the techniques were not executed properly.
I'll tell you why I'm embarrassed, so few people actually know Lohan, other than one or two forms that they do poorly, very very few have an entire system that they have expertise in, when I see how poorly they represent my style and other people believe that that is the way it should be, dang right I will say something, dang right I get embarrassed by the poor represenation that's being attributed to my style, seek instruction from a qaulified person before continuing on with it, it lacks everything that makes Lohan so unique and effective.

Rep Power: 153 | | | That's the thing though, almost every traditional system has one Lohan form in it (or a form called Lohan even if it isn't from the system), and many traditional forms have signature moves from Lohan in them. Some traditional forms also have Shuai Jiao moves incorporated in them.
Practioners will not recognize the Lohan or SJ moves or be able to do them correctly until they are shown by someone with the experience & knowledge. Sometimes students are not taught this until long after they learned the original move. Why it's done this way & whether it's right or wrong I withhold judgement on.

I have seen many systems perform some "Lohan" type thing, they still resemble the original system from which they come, if they were taught properly they are executed properly, if not then they should not bear the name.
I could do karate and call it choy lee fut but choy lee fut it is not.

Was astonished myself, but some do that. He did it under the influence of talking and practicing with Ma Yueliang, a very well known and skilled (meanwhile dead) Wu Taiji master. Meanwhile I know over another friend who is trained by Han Lei, probably the only remaining real Shaolin monk of the old pre-1928 monastery, that they did their forms REALLY slow, and thus soft, as slow that it looked like he isn't moving at all. That for a long time, and then they are allowed to do it mid-speed, and finally fast and powerful. So it's not entirely wrong to do it soft and medium quick, and the ones who want to do it originally need to pick the as-slow-as-you-can mode.

The soft versions are usually the IMA Lohan sets, nothing like what that form was like.

agreed...
I've had discussions about that with wong kiew kit followers in the past about this
we had some Lohan fighting applications on selini108.com in the past and they started nagging that Lohan was only for health etc...
oh well...

I remember seeing those apps, they were nice, if ever a martial art was truly designed for destroying an opponent's body, Lohan is it.
