The exit strategy should generally be AWARENESS, meaning you have to expect that after a non-finishing activity, the other guy might decide to give it another shot. Pushing away, evasion move covering the head/chin, going into the "shadow zone" where you cannot be hit immediately, holding, etc.

Good point.
When we go in centerline, we usually position ourselves to negate an opponent's ability to attack on one side(whether right or left) thus blocking their ability to do much from that side, thus while they have to work to get to us we are working them over from top to bottom or bottom to top or whereever we want, thus while they are restricted they are getting pummeled from various points and have difficulty in defending themselves.
When we go to the outside, we usually trap an arm/leg or move it to their center line restricting movement, stick to their body making it harder for them to find a vantage point for an attack or response, and work around them so that while we are in control of them, they are unaware of where we will be and in the meantime we strike various gates/angles, break joints, crumble their base, work vulnerable spots to weaken and destroy them untill we've beaten them into a messy pulp, we only leave or exit once we are assured they are no longer able to fight by any means, if they are, we continue to stay in control of them and pummel them silly.

Well now, that all depends, when we're inside usually we only go there after having delivered a strike that would incapacitate or break something and go inside to deliver further damage or take control to harm or take them down.
When outside we deliver the same and break/sweep the leg to weaken their base.
So, if done properly they offer little, in reality they'll fight back in some fashion and so we'll have to adapt but if we're fighting correctly then whatever they do, we are in control of and either wrap/lock them up, break and take them down, or redirect to further lock up anything else they may attempt to do.

Rep Power: 127 | | | Ah.... total destruction..... yeah baby!!!
Actually, what I was reffering to was....
Inside, leaves your opponent and yourself with all weapons available. Inside leads you to the source (centerline), but also leads them to yours. The inside allows the opponent and yourself to be aggressive offensively. The inside is where the nitty gritty takes place.
Outside, this leaves you at a somewhat better angle, defensively. You are able to use all four weapons, while your opponent can only use two. Etc....

Rep Power: 220 | | | Ah, when we're inside they have nothing, we have them immobilised on one side by how we position ourselves to their body thus neutralising movement on one side, thus they have to fight cross body which leaves them little power, and in the mean time we're working them over hardcore so they have even less ability to respond.
