IMO, it's time to rally for a change, if you want to teach dance and play, call yourself what you are, contemporary wushu. MA's are about fighting, everything else, while good, are secondary nature. Intent, dynamics, kinetics, mechanics, power, focus, Live training, contact sparring should be the way to go, forms are great for cardio/endurance and as a means to get used to movement with technique, but then you need to apply that to Live training to see how it works.
Reality, practicality, intent, focus. All need to be turned towards creating effectiveness, not LARPing and playing chi master

Rep Power: 9 | | | improveing tcma l hope you all have good luck . this is one of the first what l feel can be productive threads on here. l remember a time when there were some really good chinese schools that did just that. l always thought the the mcdonalds approach to teaching was the destroyer of quaulity. lots of students ,lots of forms in a short time, tossing out ranks like mcdonalds sold burggers with no quaulity. maybe these throwdowns are a good idea for start. |

If I may ask, are you located in Vancouver, B.C.?
I am in Bellingham Washington, but I am willing to go to BC for good training partners and teachers.
Get back to me on that.

Rep Power: 41 | | | Its supposed to be a combo of BJJ and San Shou just striped down. Personally I dont see much san shou and dont like the wrestling. If I tried that in a bar in Seoul I'd get my butt kicked. No stricks taught, no pressure points, just chokes and arm bars with no thought to possible multiple threats. It honestly reminds me of Pro Wresting... |

Rep Power: 220 | | | Aye, that's kinda like our MCMAP, but it's not a unified system, depending where you were, it could be all grappling/groundfighting, striking, or a mixture of both and all.
That's why it always seemed better to supplement on your own outside with whatever you could
