No, what I typed is often used by a trumpet. It's made in response to a poor joke, a bad pun, bad luck, etc, etc, etc

...well keep in mind these answers are personal, and I fully admit to enjoy being contrarian as well on some of these .

that said here's why I wouldn't bother with the ones on my list:

1. Oomyung Do - made-up cultish bullsh1t
2. Shaolin Do - made-up cultish bullsh1t
3. Temple Kung Fu - made-up cultish bullsh1t
4. Ngfamily - jade_dragon_03
5. any kind of kempo/kenpo - why bother? (go to the source)
6. Liu He Ba Fa - fruity-hippy stuff, if you want internal go with the big 3
7. Pai Lum - based on kempo == see my answer in (5) above
8. Pankration - made-up cultish bullsh1t
9. Krav Maga - no base, no structure, overhyped
10. JKD - no base, no structure, overhyped

I would say look into liu he more before solidifying your opinion. theres an incredible amount of complexity and depth there. .

I dont know you but i hope you are not one of those overly indoctrinated traditionalists.

I also think Pai Lum has developed a well deserved bad rap. They really screwed that system up (GM Pai being the worst). The family fighting method which is absolutely not based on kempo is great.

The delivery system is and has been horrendous. Thats where you get your Pinan forms and self defense sets, bad Hung gar, Some praying mantis really early on.

To much politics not enough emphasis on the fighting aspect. To worried about who has what. Depends upon the person u learned it off of to.

TKD (to much emphasis on certain aspect)
Karate (although traditional wouldn't be bad)
Ninjitsu (agree above stated)
Mcdojo's chain schools what ever they are now.... If your running 20 schools in different loc. then your probably a mcdojo (note I stated PROBABLY)

Hmmm I wouldn't say that to any of Wai Lun Choi's guys....I have yet to meet better internal martial artists.

For me, instead of stating the arts I won't study, I'd rather focus on the ones I would.

For starters, if I could drop everything and study Li hu, Ba Fa, I would...Wai Lun Choi is retired, and I don't think any of his students teach openly.

Secondly, I would continue with my Tai Tzu Chang Chuan...especially since I had such a bad start with those Yang people claiming to teach it when they don't even know what it is...led to years of research and found real teachers in the style.

Third, White Ape Tong Bei. It is the oldest Long Fist system and more internal than not. Also a foundational style that Tai Tzu evolved form.

Southern Tai Tzu Quan, for obvious reasons, but maybe more Southern Mantis becasue of it's internal qualities and other attributes I have seen from those guys.

Lastly, anything that will help bring me further down the current path I am on.

As for styles I would avoid, anything that takes me FROM the current path I am on.
