Rep Power: 14 | | | What wouldn't you bother with? What form(s) of martial arts doesn't interest you in the slightest, what would you never even consider spending time with if you had a choice in the matter? Why?

Rep Power: 220 | | | I wouldn't bother with Savate or Karate (unless it's Kyokushin). I think the French are the last people on the planet one should learn a martial art from, as proven by their track record and it just doesn't seem to offer very much in the way of effectiveness and I am not a fan of Karate as I trained that for a while and found it way to limited and restricted.
I train CMA's because they offer the most in variety and adaptability and I train MMA/BJJ as they are effective in coordination with the striking skills I get from my CMA, so I get groundfighting/grappling covered by that and thus am a better all around fighter due to that. |

Rep Power: 153 | | | It's not so much the styles I'm not interested in, it's the schools I wouldn't bother with.
Some schools are just utter s***e. Even schools within otherwise good, even great systems.

Rep Power: 41 | | | I agree with Sammie Girl. The school I would write off is the SD (want to know why look in the other thread) and most schools whos windows are filled with trophies, tourniment adds and the like. I get into MA for myself. Heck I dont even display my awards, ribbons, diploma, etc. Only reason I keep them is my wife asked me toand I told her its up to her to do what she likes with them. A persons worth comes from themselves not a prize......The the Winning Lottery Numbers would be nice! |

Ninjitsu. Not impressed. Really just Karate with black GI. If I want karate I'd do Goju or Uechi Ryu
Savate. What Mei said

Yeah his list plus I'd add my favs...
-- ring focused MMA l33t p33ps
-- anything that claims to be the progenitor of everything else
-- anything claiming untaught secrets until now
-- Any CMA/KMA/JMA/AMA ending in "-do"
-- Anything that has misspelled "-jutsu" or "ju-"
Those are a few of my fav add ins. I'm sure there's more but I'm tired & having an endoscopy in the AM so that'll work for me now.

how rude JKD rocks ! and don't you forget it sonny !
But yea, I agree with the earlier statement, a lot of it comes down to the actual school, not always the style taught.
