Though I am not going to argue that Wing Chun or many other styles might have grappling, or counter-grappling techniques that doesnt mean its the best defense for grappling. In my Choy Lee Fut I see some great (thats only my Opinion) stand up grappling techniques, but that doesnt mean they are the best. But they may be more than adiquate for an untrained opponent.

Pope if you feel Wing Chun doesnt have what you want my advice is to keep up with the basics (maybe spend a half hour on it a few days a week) and dive into a grappling style.

I don't recall indicating that I was offended.

If that's your way of saying I don't necessarily agree, you're right. Do you only have discussions with people who agree with everything you say?

Don't take things too seriously.

WC has a lot of good things, but ground work is it's weakest point as far as I am concerned.

I believe it falls into the same trappings of any art that is afraid to change and evolve, which is: If you have to stick to the rules of your style while you fight, you become predictable. If you have a predictable structure you are at a big disadvantage against someone who exploits this.

Maybe you can still win, because you have much better attributes that will make it hard for your opponent to exploit you, but then the fight was won not by any Style, but by Attributes.

Every Style has its strengths and weaknesses. Every Practitioner has there strengths and weaknesses. What you have to do is make sure you are A) aware of your weaknesses, B) be aware of your styles/the style you are currently in's weaknesses and C) learn how to compensate for those weakness as to be able to discover what works for you. Everything lies within you and everything lies beyond you. The art is only tyhe vehicle for self discovery and growth.
