YOU- Realistically and often testing your skills.

I keep seeing people using the words "proof" and "prove"... Where is that coming from?

I think I know... Aaradia started off her first post here by saying she didn't have anything to prove.... Kind of strange... for someone that doesn't have anything to prove

Wow, I must confess I will stop here because I am quite drunk. I just got back from hanging out on a bonfire with my sister and drank some wine after nothing alcoholic for about six months. My tolerance is quite wimpy!!!!!

This is like reading an argument between Art and Sport. Art says, "Why should we be critiqued by others, when it is about personal growth?", whereas Sport says "How will we know if you are any good, if you won't show us?".

Neither is wrong, but Sport really wants to know who would win in a streetfight.

My first post is me quoting you. I never said that it was your first post in this thread. I mentioned your first post in this thread as being the one that started off saying

Now this gets to the reason I posted that quote from another thread...

For someone that doesn't feel like they have anything to prove that statement sure does sound like you are trying to prove something. You go out of your way to make the comment and then give numerous examples of how a person could go about proving to themselves the point you are trying to make...for example-

What that is saying to me is that I need to meet the teacher and students, I need to go to the school, I need to see them practice, I need to talk to the instructors, etc. and that will give me proof.

If someone said "Cam has black hair" and I didn't feel I needed to prove to them otherwise, I wouldn't say a word at all. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to make a post about it and then offer ways of proving it to them like "come to my house and see and talk to me" etc., etc., etc. The only reason I would reply to it at all is if I DID feel like I needed to prove something. I never asked you to prove anything. I never used the words "prove" or "proof"... that was all you. This thread simply gave you an opportunity to post a vid. Maybe you won't post a vid because of what it WILL prove....?

Now... Who's going to post some vids?
I may tape training Monday night and get some good vid of us sparring.

Anne, I agree completely... but that's not what is being said here.

The statement is

That implies that the statement is in fact false. So basically the claim is being made that they do, in fact, test their skills often and realistically and that anyone that doubts it needs to go visit the school, talk to the instructor and watch the students practice.

If it was as you stated, Anne, then the comment would have been

"Others here keep saying I or others do not test our skills realistically over and over again and they are correct but we do not have to do that because our style is all about personal growth and not applicable combat skills."

There's nothing wrong with training MAs for the art aspect, but be honest enough to call a spade a spade. It's the intellectual dishonesty that kills me.

I am not looking for proof of anything. I already have proof of pretty much what I need to know. I just want to see vids. I'm looking for entertainment.

Unless you ignored it the first 50 or 100 times and just got sick of it. Maybe someone posted "cam has black hair" on almost every single blessed thread, telling people they know nothing and are limited in their minds until they accept "Cam has black hair" on posts that have nothing to do with whether or not "Cam has black hair" and someone finally got sick of the person saying over and over again "cam has black hair". and you spoke up finally Saying "think Cam has black hair all you want, but STOP telling us to believe Cam has black hair over and over and over again on threads completly unrelated to that subject!!!"

I tried to clean it up a bit although I didn't use more bold. I will see what I can do, but maybe I need to wait until tomorrow when I am simply hung over.

As for people only seeing what they want. That will happen no matter what I say.....
