Any traditional kung fu schools in Manchester, England?

Hi, I have recently moved to Manchester and looking for a traditional school to begin training in.

Does anyone know of any genuine schools I could try?

I have done some homework and there seems to be a wealth of tai chi chuan, especially Chen style ... but I am not looking for an internal style.

Right now I am looking for an external system, preferably a Shaolin style. North or South doesn't matter, as long as it's a genuine system.

thanks in advance

Here's a school, from what I hear it is very Traditional, not sure what style, it's either Eagle Claw or Hung Gar, call and find out.

Site's under construction, but it has the address and contact #

Thanks.

I will definitely check them out. If it's Hung Gar it sounds great. I would love to study Hung Gar!

It very well could be Hung Gar by that name, don't think Eagle Claw advertises as much about Lion Dancing as Hung Gar does

I've also heard there is a 7 Star Praying Mantis school somewhere here but can't find much trace of it.

I believe it's a branch of Michael Lee's school.

Does anyone know of Michael Lee? Recommended?

Will have to double check, but the name rings a bell, a good bell, it might very well be worth checking out as well as my prior recommendation

Yeah don't worry I will check them all out

I've had a couple false starts over the years, do this time I am going to take it extremely careful and ask for as many outside opinions as possible before starting anything.

As sad as it is to admit, I know that I am more easily fooled than I used to think. So for that reason I won't go just by my own impressions of a school.

That's a good mid set to have when training in any martial art, it's far too common to get sold a load of BS that ends up not being what it's promoted as.
I've gone through that as have many others here........

I know Dave and still keep in touch. He's a nice bloke and knows loads about wing chun. He's also proficient in some rare Taiji- Grey Goose or summink. In any case he's straight and very friendly, I'm sure he'd put you in touch with someone who could help you even if you felt he couldn't!

That's good then, just wasn't very impressed by the site, goes to show that you often need to see things for yourself or speak to people to get a better impression.

Yeah-- I don't know that I would ever judge a school's martial arts based on the way their internet site looks myself though!
