I disagree. To participate in MMA one needs a lot of skill and devotion to hard work.
By definition all martial arts systems are "kung fu" but may not be indigenous to China or owe their heritage or lineage to CMA styles.
By that token, most all professional physical sports are also "kung fu", including the sport of MMA.

Ah, my point is he was asking about what the best Kung Fu system was in an MMA forum, the wrong place to ask that question which should have been External Styles Other
Though I do agree with your post |

Rep Power: 163 | | | Yeah, when I first saw this thread my first reaction was "why is this in the MMA section"... but then I viewed it from all angles....
His actual post specifies "style/animal system" so that does get a tad more specific than the thread title.
But the thread title initiates the question "for what?"... The best system of "gaining skill through hard work" for what specific goal?
Since this is primarily a martial arts forum I assume he meant "the best kung fu system" for practical martial skills... which would indeed be the method that most all MMA practitioners subscribe to, a mixture and combination of the most prominent sport arts. That would indeed give a home to the question here in the MMA forum.
If his query meant specifically "what is the best TCMA system?" then that should have been put in a different forum.
If his query meant the best TCMA system for entering into an MMA competition then the answer would be rather divisive and subjective... as hardly anyone who competes in MMA utilizes any TCMAs. Of course there are some that utilze TCMAs but rarely any that use them as pure stand-alone styles and none of them have ever proven any more effective or ineffective than any other TCMA styles, none have had more success than any other. Because of the lack of data that question is really unanswerable.

Don’t sweat the snide reception some people must be having a bad day. Mixed martial arts is a variation on wrestling rules that allows people from different styles to compete against each other. It is developing into a big spectator sport.
It’s easy to see why you posted your question here, as, as has been pointed out before, there is no section for general discussion including input from a mix of martial arts on this forum
Apparently general questions should go in the other section of external arts (although why this is meant to make sense i don’t know.) |
