A McDojo is also used to define a school that employs other methods to increase their profit.
Such as marketing their Birthday Party plan, that is not the typical method of any legit school, if they have a party for a member then that's fine, but when they advertise such an option on their website for non members to come to, then that's a BS Scam.

Jade, when I mentioned cult and BS McDojo, I was talking about Chung Moo Do/Chung Mu Quan/United Martial Arts. All the same thing but they keep changing their name to stay ahead of the IRS and authorities

I don't like lumping the term "McDojo" with "scam" (unless a McDojo is running a scam). "McDojo" was coined to describe multi-school, cookie-cutter organizations that teach mediocre to poor martial arts across the board -- like a McDonald's cheeseburger. A McDonald's cheeseburger isn't a scam, it's really a cheeseburger -- it's just a crappy cheeseburger. Same thing with the term "McDojo."

Thats my bad, I used the wrong choice of words for that. What I was trying to say was doing the birthday party concept (not scam) to bring in money IMO makes it a McDojo because #1 most of your legit schools don't do that. And #2 It makes it appear that they will do anything to make a buck.

Yeah actually, #2 is more disturbing to me -- a real scam can usually be figured out by people in time (if they're actually breaking any promises). But "anything to make a buck," that's the kind of thing that causes quality to tank in a MA school and can't really be legally challenged as long as the owner is sticking to the letter of the contract.
