instructional video

i was thinking about picking this up sence im still hunting for a school. think it can be used to help me out so i can atleast be ahead when i fiiiiinally find one?

hmmm. sounds good, but in my experience (and I freaking love instructional videos like this), the best thing is to get a live teacher, THEN look at videos to suppliment what you're seeing in class. Even the best video is kind of crap until you get live partners to play off of.

Indeed... vids are a great resource for brushing up already known & practiced skills. Not a great way to learn from scratch.

Besides, the 2 schools I recommended to you while not in your backyard, aren't that far from you.

i called them and just get answer machine. and they say they call you back and its been a week and i call once a day - -. im starting to think my money isnt wanted xD

C'mon Kuli. You gotta want it! I know you've seen at least one kung fu movie, right? There is almost always a scene where a student has to prove his/her desire, by say sitting on the master's doorstep for weeks....
Just go there like Sean said. You will be glad you did.

There's truth in that. My sifu "tried me out" for about 3 months before he said for concrete sure I was a student of his. I've seen him turn people away/out after a class or two for whatever reasons he deems his own.

You want it, go get it & earn it. It's not coming to you.

You really do have to want it. Have you any MA experience prior to your current situation?

I don't think my shr fu knew i was in the class for the first couple of weeks i was there. On my yellow belt test we had 5 black belts in our style visiting so they kicked my shr fu out of the test so he couldn't watch it and tested us with out him. there were about 15 - 20 students going for the test for belts of all different ranks and only 5 of us passed. when i came out with my certificate my shr fu asked what it was, when i told him i passed he said "really? wow, I really didn't think you would when I put you on the test." and to tell the truth I didn't think i would either, not because of the curriculum but because i didnt think i had the determination to stick it out when it got tough. I only got that far because i wanted to prove to myself i could do it. and i surprised a lot of people.

in short, you wont get anywhere if you wait for someone to come and get you and drag you there, if you want it you have to go out do it. dont wait for them to answer the phone or the building to jump out at you. you have to go looking if you want it and dont give up cause its not coming easy, no one is gonna stop you from failing and your the only one stopping you from succeeding.
