A great training tool, not only can you practice Iron Palm, you can hit the waves after, or during
Yeah, they've used bamboo scaffolding for quite some time, it is impressive to see, but that stuff holds up amazingly well |

Pumpkins might surprise a few people. Give it a shot... one note though, it's either the pumpkin or you.

Rep Power: 3 | | yep',..I tried it on my son's Pumpkin after Halloween was over,..and my wife said; "o.k., time for mr. Pumpkin to leave",..so, I go in the back yard,(looked around, made sure the neighbors weren't out),..raised up', and SMASH,...(hurt my hand),..lol', second try, finally cracked it open!,..LOL. Maybe we can start a 'new' Traditional Chinese technique called (are you ready?,..wait for it',..) "Smashing-Pumpkins"! herr herrr'! |

Rep Power: 127 | | | LOL... was it carved out or whole still? Also did you notice how thick it is? Another thing about pumpkins are the design/shape of it. With it's curves, it's pretty much built to absorb some good impact.

Rep Power: 3 | | | oh yeah',..lol, it was hollowed-out and carved! I turned it over and smashed the back of it,...it was pretty thick, because we always buy the $6.00 pumpkins,..lol'. Aprx.' 18-inches high. yep',..I know about density, and curved energy absorbtion(ie; the way most building supports are made),..but I thought I'd give it a 'whack' anyway. By the second try,(of course),..it was full focus, drop the body-wieght into it, exhale in time,..all of the things that one normally does anyway during a 'break',..I just mis-judged my opponant,..being how he was 'just' a vegatable, sitting out-side for two weeks,..lol. Almost as bad as people who try to break blocks or wood on top of a gymnastic-floor or Boxing-Ring,...too much 'give'. |

Rep Power: 127 | | LOL... nice. Try it whole next time. We tend to do these seasonally.... which reminds that October is right around the corner. We'll buy it straight from the stands and smash them that day.

That Lacy guy was never part of what he claims, and never is and never will be part of what he claims....all he got are bunch of videos which were not meant for him...he stole them...and those videos were not instructional videos.....I quoted your message regarding the articles in kung fu magazine....if you mean "Inside Kung Fu" they didn't accept the Lacy guy...the others like "Karate International" and TKDT did...but those were in early 90s not 70s and 80s...in 70s, the James Lacy guy was probebly serving a prison time...he might still be on parole.
As fo coconut breaking, each of us has his own views
Wishing you all nice weekend. |

Rep Power: 3 | | lol,...yep', I wouldn't doubt it! Well,..I have him in an 1989 "Inside Kung-fu" magazine and then again in "Inside Kung-Fu"1993, an article on "Coconut Breaking",...(so I messed up on the 70's part,...lol'),...but anyway, I agree with you ,he was 'out-there' somewhere! |

And to be fair, they did not say "traditional" on the window, so I guess the fact that coconuts doe not grow in China does not matter. | ” | |
It sounds more like a Hawaiian marshal art technique. In fact some of their techniques can be a combination of culture to make the dojo more interesting perhaps.
