Rep Power: 0 | | | A clarification This isn't intended as a continuation of the "forms to fighting" thread, but an attempt to flesh out my position.
It seems some people have gotten the idea that I am a BJJ nutrider.
This is not so, and a straw man arguement. I have never stated that BJJ is superior to all other styles. I have nothing but respect for any school that trains "alive" (in the realm of CMA san shou and shuai jiao come to mind).
I have actually been investigating tiger and eagle claw kung fu for the alternative grips they provide, to add to my sub grappling game.
In addition I practice frog qigong for half an hour every day.
There are plenty of things in the BJJ world I dislike, such as the high prices and blatant monopolism by WHORErion and co.
So I invite anyone to try to find any example of me saying BJJ is superior to all other arts.

Hogey: Thanks for the clarification.
Judoka: This has to do w/a previous thread...no one is trying to insult the style.

Rep Power: 100 | | | It was not only about "superiority".
It is completely pointless to try searching for "holes" or "uselessness" in BJJ if you are a "Kungfu guy", and "forms" if grappler. It should be about understanding, knowing, exchange, and tolerating. Forms have a certain purpose, like ropeskipping. So it is useless to try to prove they don't promote you into impersonation of the "iron monkey". Forms are athletic training, and they give you athletics, balance, and some sense of moving around. Everything beyond that is personal understanding and body intuition. Some have it, most don't, that's why you have fighting practices. The question was how forms add to fighting, not if this alone makes you unbeatable. This is the big problem of most "form bashOrz".

Jawsman enters, looks around and nods in agreement. Slowly slips back into the dark murkiness..........
