If you want to know about original Shaolin training and do it, drop an email to Forrest Lineberry at zentao.com. Might take a while until he answers. Don't waste your time with wannabe retreats teaching you some frolics. If anyone knew what was trained pre 1928, it was Han Lei, and he taught Forrest considerable time. Also the not-so-funny stuff you see on old pics.

I've had a look there. I went for a trip there with some friends. They paid the admission fee. Apparently it's not cheap. Anyway... watching the performance cost more money to go in and see it, and I must say I was less than impressed with what I saw.... Monks wearing brand names like Nike, Adidas, and so on... until they did their performances in which they were wearing "monks" robes, an dback to their other clothes afterwards.

Hey, you guys know that there is a real Shaolin temple in california now, right? I think it's good that Shaolin is rebuilding and getting more than one temple on it's way... There used to be about 6-7 or something, I forgot how many.

I go with Sammygirl, "American Shaolin" was an awesome book with great information on it. Good story on the way with it too Shaolin has had major renovations since the end of the book (even after Matt went back in the 2000's) though. He was right, all the things around it like the cheap coke shops and Mao Zedong's first plane (lol) are gone, but now the temple is a lot larger than it was. Many more students too.
