Rep Power: 18 | | | Jow This is a great idea!!!! Not many sifu's are willing to share their "secret" recipes, I think that if we all contribute we should be able to gain a lot from the combined knowledge of jows here.
Here is the recipe I got for an all-purpose bruise jow, although I have not made it yet....
Alcohol (Vodka, gin, Brandy, - even rubbing alcohol) 1 or 2 quarts (depending on strength desired)
1 oz of each of the following:
breadstraw
calendula (marigold)
camomile
comfrey
common club moss
cow slip
dandelion
shepards purse
stinging nettle
st johns wart
wintergreen oil (often this comes in rubbing acohol, either way is fine)
Now pour the acohol into a glass jar and gring the herbs all very finely and pour them in. Keep the mixture in a dark place for at least one week to have any results. The longer you let it sit the better the results should be.
In addition to make an iron palm jow use the same mixture and add 1oz of each of the following:
horsetail
mallow
cow parsnip
fenugreek
walnut
yellow dead nettle
Let this mixture sit longer than a week before trying it out... you need the extra strength for such injuries klike the ones that occur from external iron palm.
Now I haven't tried this jow out... it was given to me by a sihing of mine so I hope it is valuable information, I know less than nothing if herbalism, so if anyone does know abit about it please let me know.

Rep Power: 25 | | Be cautious in giving out your Jow recipies. I have a couple myself which I do not wish to share, but I will say that the one you have posted looks okay for an all purpose Jow. Remeber it took the Old Masters many years to get the recipies, it's not fair to them to just hand them out without given permission. I'd also suggest on letting your brew sit at least three months before using any if you want peak potency (longer if you have the time). Everclear seems to work great for this. Keep you Jow out of light as well if possible.

Rep Power: 18 | | Jow Fair enough. I just have not had too much exposure to this end of things and wished to double check my recipe. I never meant any disrespect to anyone. Good post!

Rep Power: 25 | | I'll pass it on to my successor (I'm an inheritor of our system), but thats it. I'm not holding anything back from anyone. There is enough fair quality Jow on the market without me giving out my recipie. I just choose not to pass it out, mostly because I have been specificly told not to give it out and I don't disobey my Sifu's wishes. The Jow posted is okay, use it and you'll be fine. Sorry, I wish I could give it to you guys.

Rep Power: 25 | | Mercius- I'm far from being a teacher, only a "private" student if you will. I am training to teach though, but I have about four more years to go (thats why I train 6 hours everyday). I say my successor because one day just as Sifu chose his inheritor(s), I will chose mine. The system I practice is Five Family Fists (Choy, Li, Fut, Mok , Hung), Emperors Long Fist, and Tung Wu Chuan (Five Formed Animal Fists). I sometimes teach junior students but I am not quite an Instructor.
Janus- Dit da Jow is an herbal linament someimtes meaning" Iron Hit Wine". The linament is used to reduce swelling and bruising, to promote cirulation (chi flow), break down calcium deposits, treat sprains, strains, and just about any other injury one could imagine. It is also used in Iron Palm training, both internal and external. Jow can be used both for internal injuries (ex. Dim Mak) or external injuries (ex. bruised fists) depending on the ingriedients used. Most Sifu only pass on Jow recipies to thier Senior most students.
