Neither is that nut-job cult. So, for as long as you choose to associate yourself with 'Spaceman and the Hippies', you'd better get used to being 'mocked'. |

It sounds like you could reach a high level in Qi Gong. Perhaps you might find the Tien Tao Chi Kung Correspondence Course to your liking.
I don't agree that having a teacher is that vital if you have good books and are willing to try. |

Rep Power: 5 | | You will just have to look around in your area or maybe check the Internet for a location since Fa Lun Gong has a good contact list.
Don't be concerned about any bad things that you hear about it, since these are mere Commie and Leftist lies. | “ | Originally

Hey man,
Read your posts. I see that you haven't posted in a while. I hope you're ok.
The Wong Kiew Kit chi kung you mentioned, Lifting the Sky, is one of my faves. I practiced it tonight. I like that one when I don't have much time or I'm teaching a newbie. I've had people have amazing results from it: recovering from strokes, shoulder bursitis doctors couldn't touch, etc. The first guy on this page http://www.damazen.com/pages/testimonials.html only learned Lifting the Sky from me.
If you're in a tough spot, though, chi kung can be too much. Standing or sitting meditation may be the way to go. Even meditation can be intense, though, at first. I know people who have been physically ill from a week long Vipassana meditation retreat where they basically take a vow of silence and meditate all day in a monastic setting. The best is to find a good teacher.
For meditation, I can recommend two great books: The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama and TURNING THE MIND INTO AN ALLY by Sakyong Mipham: http://www.mipham.com/books_turning.html. You can probably find them both for not a lot of money used on half.com or amazon.com. Both have really good practical exercises and insights.
Be well.
Practice hard,
David

Rep Power: 29 | | | Falun Gong is a cult. Even if most of the practitioners are nice, kind people, that does not make it any less destructive than any other religions of this world.
My country was right in cracking down on these guys, and other religions.

Rep Power: 29 | | | Very true. One of the downfalls of mankind is religion in general (IMHO).
