Rep Power: 0 | | | Intrinsic Hi. It is very hard to explain what "Chi" is. It is not measurable by any Western scientific apparatus and has to be understood through other methods (i.e. Learning the Arts.) Basically, it is the culmination of many factors : Good health, unified body and movement of that body, posture, stance. It is like a kinetic energy, much like the stretching of an elastic band; It will reach a maximum potential, then rebound back, Chi is that Potential halfway between reaching its potential and the rebound. Once the body starts to retune itself through training, new possibilties can be discovered. Rather than tensing and using the strength of biceps and triceps, one can relax and the whole body becomes like 1 unified muscle, similar to the relax stretch when you wake up.
Chi can be refined and you will find that it is the underlying fabric of the Universe. |

Rep Power: 100 | | | The future is people doing qigong exercises daily in the morning for improving health, without speculating wether it came from Mao Tse Tung or energy wave mind transmission from the pleiades. A very distant future, unfortunately.

Rep Power: 0 | | | or a simpler defination would be "our very life" or "life force" you can live for weeks without food, days without water, minutes without air but not a second without life force
Also called Prana in Indian and Ki (I think) in japanese. its carried around your nervous system, controlled by your mind and moved by your breathe. In most westerners it doesn't flow at all as we retain it with our bad posture, bad breathing techniques, tension and stress.
Chi gung (qi gong) primarily or as a second option Hatha Yoga are two ways of learning to control and move your life force - yoga through assuming a controlled pose, retaining the pose and then releasing it, accompanied by controlled breathing. Chi gung through gentle but consistent movements that keep open the path in which the chi should flow and directed by the breath. The breathe allows the chi/prana to move, the pose allows it to flow where it should - in particular relaxed straight back/spine and parrallel posture (eg both halves the same) and the mind through simply concentrating can send it where it should go. Where concentration isn't possible, just thinking of breathing in then out whilst carrying out the move is a good start.
Its nothing spooky, special or out of reach - simply the essence of us all and is there for each of us to identify, control and let flow. By allowing it to flow to all parts of the body will simply increase your health - "stagnant" or non flowing/blocked chi is seen as being responsible for many of our general illnesses and ill health both mind and body
I hope that helps - and moreover I hope its correct!

Rep Power: 5 | | 氣 Ch'i or Qi originally just means "breath" or "breathing" in Chinese. All the other associations are formations based on the experiences of the speaker. It is a very common term in the Chinese language. For example, the term for "weather" in Chinese is "t'ien ch'i" or the "breath of Heaven." It is really simple, and it only becomes complex in specific technical applications, like traditional Chinese medicine or some martial arts. In my school, when instructors are asked about ch'i by students we say: "It means breathing. There isn't much point talking any more about it until you have enough objective experience to actually know what you are talking about, so, everyone get back to work!"

Rep Power: 7 | | Chi is your life force.
The original Chinese ideogram was a symbol for uncooked rice combined with one for steam.
Loosely speaking it means your state of health, but in a wider sense it can be taken to mean any form of energy or even a physical substance. |

all you got to do is eat a sh** load of beans. The down a couple of beers to speed up the chi transformation.
Soon, you'd feel the transportation.
Let it flow.

Rep Power: 6 | | | You could say chi is energy that holds and penetrates the universe, it has no form yet movement is observable, a slight property of density, a self organizing force, demi physical, almost not there thing, this is what acupuncture and the chi arts are directing the other aspects of our bodies (the formless) our body function is simultaneous,no cause or effect that organization, the spirit, is out side of time. For time to be there must be cause and effect. Chi is cause that moves matter.
We are taught the opposite way in the west where matter created the universe getting stuck in time, matter is one level of reality, the most obvious (looking for that time machine step in to Chinese science).
living forms bring in, hold and release energy all aspects for cultivation practice (chi arts) and moving the whole being (not just physical) as one. Also the chi can be directed in positive ways or negative ways like when our perspective may be blocked. If we move out of fear, worry(the future), anger, separate identity that is all cause (also chi) for illness in its many manifestation that comes into being only from an environment that will support it.
