Rep Power: 0 | | | I usually meditate in my living room. Now that it is getting nicer out, I'll be doing so in my backyard. I have the same issue with my dog. When I meditate, she gets really annoyed at me. I guess I'm not paying attention to her. LOL
I guess my question is....when is the best time to meditate? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Meditate whenever you can, I do it all the time, I'll sometimes space out in school and not even know I do it. Heh, it's bad sometimes because I'll do it during math, not one of my strongest subjects...... |

But seriously, I meditate any and everywhere; at work, at school, doing anything is a good time to put some meditation into it as it helps to open and focus the mind, it doesn't always need to be a formal meditation, just some focus. |

Rep Power: 17 | | | I agree - meditate anywhere - anywhen
But having a specific formal time is good - to build the habit and to give a foundation to your day.
I meditate in the evening - and often in the early morning. I find the morning meditations very productive. (more alert - more energy)

Rep Power: 6 | | Outdoors whenever possible. My favorite place to meditate has to be the New England peace pagoda in Leverret Massachussetts. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and once you get there, you walk up a 1/2 mile hill. While I walk I let my mind settle, and open my senses to the natural surroundings. The pagoda is quite large, but you don't see it until you reach the very top of that hill. There are plenty of places to sit, and a wonderful pond to sit beside as well. The bullfrogs are downright deafening certain times of the year.
Now if I could just catch one to lick! If anybody happens to be in western Massachussetts, it is worth the trip.

Good stuff! I enjoy the cold weather months myself, especially as the full moon rises as the sun sets. The shadows cast by moonlight bring a different dynamic to the activity. Not to mention, the mosquitoes won't bother you either!

Rep Power: 9 | | i do not wish to ruin this thread but... i have been trying to meditate in my garden.. but i am gettin stuck.. i do not know if i am day dreaming or meditating.
..
i sit with a fountain behind me and flowers & plants around me.. i try to concentrate on the plants, and the water flowing via the water feature.
i can sit there for ages. yet i begin to feel as though i am day dreaming.
i have seen bugs etc around me and like a fly landed on me and would not budge. o0oo and sometimes birds. when i am not doing anything whilst walking i try to concentrate. and once ina while i see birds near by i walk past.. they do not fly away.

Anywhere you can is good. I prefer to be outside when I can but inside is good also. You mentioned the animals. While meditating and while doing chi kung, I have noticed squirrels and birds gathering around me as I practiced. One time I was even startled by a squrrel that had perched himself at my right foot while doing something called "turn and see heel".
YES IT IS PRETTY COOL. The animals can feel your energy and your peacefulness.

animals are fairly pragmatic. they're probably trying to figure out how it helps you get food or get laid.

Rep Power: 14 | | | I meditate on the toilet. Its a good place to get into a good trance.
I also meditate for about 6 hours a day, from 21:00 to 3:00 or 4:00 depending on what I need to get done; my roomate says I'm sleeping, but sleep is for the week, so really I'm just a really good meditater
