How are you training shattering palm? This does not sound right as the shattering palm is mostly internal. With vibrating palm for example, if you do tense your muscles while your pulsating, you'll get headaches. You dont relax cause its part of the execution and its internal, its internal and relaxed because you CANNOT use muscle tension with vibrating palm. Thats the point. The self effect helps to break up statis and stagnation in the muscles and surface, which is often the side effect of iron body, dynamic tension, ect. Reich called this muscular armoring.

you havent been meditating have you?

the manipulation of chi in the body requires focus and concentration, not to mention coordination and rythmic breathing, etc.

always sink the chi to the dantien, if it rises to the back of the head, try not to let it, but dont force against it, and dont confuse yourself. also it is vital to maintain soong.

your chi will rise to the back of your head if you let your focus go, always keep your chi in the dantien, from here it will flow naturally through the arms and legs and everything in between the extremeties.

dont sit there trying to strain power out of your body, this could be why your getting a headache also, watch out, you might even get a hernia, the whole concept of chi is not to strain but to RELAX.

study tai chi and move up gradually, this is the nature of internal arts, and tai chi is probably the most basic of these internal arts, dont try to do any advanced techniques utilizing your "chi" remember, internal arts are slow but sure, learn the basics, and when you actually know what youre doing, you can then do your lil experiments.

by the way, what is shattering palm? sounds cool, but i never heard of it are you sure your friend isnt a jedi master also?

Re: Kung-Fu Bear Forms

A good starting point for 'Bear Forms' would be to check out the Five Animal Frolics...easily found online, but best learned by watching it being performed live...and also Hsing-Yi Bear Style...which may be a bit harder to find online, and also best learned by watching it being performed live and in person as a student. In the latter methods...pushing, slapping, and the use of various open handed palm techniques are typical in most Hsing-Yi Chuan Styles. Good luck!

bing bang pow can only hope to improve
what on earth

You should stop practicing and find yourself a qualified teacher. You should not be paying around with the internal martial arts. You could really harm yourself both physically and mentally.
