Rep Power: 5 | | | What about transferring your Chi to a nearby person/animal? Anyone have any enlightenments on this? I've heard of it, never tried it though.

What about it?
I was talking to a guy in class about energy healing. Sending chi into someone to heal them. This guy traveled all over for many years doing chi kung and TCM. He told me that while it can be done it isn't most of the time because the same results can be reached by other means like massage or accupuncture and those methods are easier, both in application and on the patient.
If you want to get an understanding of chi the find a chi kung you like and start practicing it. Do it for 2 or 3 years and your questions will be answered.

A process that takes several weeks/months with a daily training ritual (not just striking a pad, but a ritual, from warmup to training to cooldown, with application of jow at certain points). Usually culminates in breaking bricks.

Rep Power: 21 | | | Iron training is just hardening the body to withstand damage.

well sure, as long as your opponent will wait while you hop into horse stance and do some deep breathing for a couple minutes, then stretch out your hands & wrists, then position yourself for the most accurate blow, then aim & strike.
There are easier ways to break bones. The iron palm/iron body training as ChiBeast said, is a way to toughen the body. However if you ever train with someone who has done iron body for several years -- every time they hit you or you hit them, it's painful. For you. (Maybe I should say "me" -- that's been my experience training with folks who've done iron body.)

I know more than 10 people who can do that on a daily basis
I can do it to myself on a sunday morning after some heavy boozing and eating shoarma with garlicsauce right before passing out....

@Shiromizu:
don't get your hopes up
there are no shortcuts in kung fu training and not in chi gong training either
if you're a dedicated student and have a good instructor you *can* get good results tho
just don't think you'll be the next >>fill in any childhood hero<< in notime because you "mastered" iron body/ fist.......
if sh!t would work that way we'd all be hero's around here
but guess what....

Rep Power: 21 | | Be careful about doing the iron training by yourself. I would suggest that you find someone who knows their stuff to teach you. If your dead set on doing it yourself then I suggest some good material. I've never done any iron training, and don't plan to, but I've done some work with Shou Yu Liang in the past and he has a book out that covers that stuff. Check it out here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/188...Fencoding=UTF8
He definetly knows his stuff.

Rep Power: 150 | | | Horse stance? I hope you don't know it only because your art has a different name for it. I think there's info in the articles section on this site, with pics.
Most ppl in my system who do iron palm training don't start until they've had at least 4-5 years of traditional kung fu training. Even then, not everyone is asked to train it. Dedication to the art is a significant criteria; not a single day of training can be skipped. Then there is suitability for the training -- ppl with health problems or injuries to the hands/arms, or even prior internal injuries, have to be cleared for the training. Very few women are trained in it (not sure why; it may just be "tradition" not to train women, but a part of the initial training seems to be to increase testosterone levels). The herbs used in the jow (liniment) can be harmful.
IMO supervised training is essential to do it safely.
