Some say it is usefull as a mental aid to concetration on specific kinds of energy.
Others claim the colors are truly a feature of the spiritual planes they contact. |

What having qi can do is to increase your health, make you much more sensitive, lead to a natural sense of pengjin, and open doors to your consciousness that you didn't know existed. The paradox is that you have to be open to some of that just to feel qi.
Two of the main components of qi are blood and breath, yet qi is more than the sum of those parts. Still you would expect blood circulation and breathing to improve from proper qigong. It's usually this increased circulation that allows iron palm trainings as far as I can tell.
One of the best things about qi flow is the feeling of expansion and contraction within the body and the rise of a natural sense of peng jin. The qi naturally wants to expand and rise, giving a real sense of peng jin and can actually be felt even if someone isn't pushing on you. This is more aof a Yang style taiji approach to peng than the Chen style approach that people are familiar with.
That sense of qi giving rise to peng allows you to train your taiji or other IMA forms the way they were meant to be done -- from the inside out, not the outside in. You'll feel your qi expand and contract accorind to the moves and you can check the correctness of your postures according to the amount and smoothness of the qi.
This is one of the best benefits of qi training. | |
