About headaches

Hi everybody,
I'm doing chi kung everyday, zhan zhuang, silk reeling, etc, but when I finished I feel how a hammer headache starts to invade me, can you explain what's the reason for that? All the time I'm breathing, I think correctly, with my abdomen, not my chest. Thank you.

it could be the circulation is not moving correctly, the head can accumulate a great amountof qi which usually leads to heaches, fever and nausea. I used to have this happen to me as well after certain qigong 'mistakes' I was making. I also practice some of the Hunyuan qigong from Sigung Feng as well, it is a ver powerful set and causes a lot of movement.
The other thing I just thought of is that any stagnation you currently have will probably get worse before it gets better as the qi kind of 'pounds' against the blockage as it fights to free the path. This can cause a lot of initial problems as well and acunpunture or herbs may be a good alternative to help things even out.
By the way, whom do you train under?
Hope this helps.

i get migranes. sometimes they put me out for a couple of days. exercise helps. but a couple loratabs and a whole day and night's sleep is the only thing that really works. i have been stretching my neck and shoulders a lot lately and have noticed a difference in the monthly number of headaches.
I am yet to try acupuncture, my dad has had it done for his with no luck...but we shall see. I try and beat them without anything first. then i try exercising, if that doesnt work it time to hit the hay and the pills.......

Hi everybody,
Thank you for your replies, and sorry to be late in my reply!
I found what happened about it. When I don't got to gym I do my exercices at home but when I finished my qi gong I didn't do any movement I did inmediately meditation so after that the headache started. Now I after the qigong I do tai chi or something in motion so I can maintain the energy in the dantien and I don't allow it reaches the head, so now I don't have headaches related to qigong exercises.

Bye!

I've also studied Hunyuan taichi (for a few years when in the ROC) -I used to have a similar problem. I felt that the qigong was powerful, but at the end of it I'd get headaches, or a feeling of pressure in the forehead -like if I bent down suddenly I'd feel it.

I tend to do more sitting qigong meditation and now I'm doing taekkyon (Korean kicking martial art), so it's not such a problem -I'm guessing it takes time for qi passages to 'unblock'

ummm.

In Chi gung - who said it's a good idea for it to get worse before it get's better?

Do not listen to that.

You must be doing ti wrong - or it's bad chi gung - PERIOD.

Headache - is BAD NEWS. The chi is going up and not coming down. It's stuck!

Just stop it - you're building up pressure there. Ask your teacher. If your teacher can help you fix it - stop that crap!

allan is right completly. the internal cleansing of chi gong work even if you have blockages or constricted spots should give a feeling of release and lightness. I suggest going to a traditional chinese doctor to check to see if there is any other underlying issues. Also get the opinion of a qualified chi gong master. possibly to check your merdians and your breathing techniques.
