Things like jing and qi and whatnot are ideas, symbolic tools that helped people describe normal daily life--they notice people start full of energy and aged and lost hair and teeth and finalyl died, etc...They just called this the lapsing of essence and said it had forward direction intime. As soon as you try to "look" for qi, or map the conception vessel to an exact physical model, or whatever, you start mising the point...at least, thats my opinion. Its used as a way of symbolically describing the human landscape, not a tangible physical model...

Immortality is infact a breakthrough in connecting the "outer" being to the "inner", immortal one, and on the long run getting aware of immortality and the memories and emotions of lifes far behind you, "the big picture". It's not funny when that happens accidentally, at times when you almost or infact die and regain life. When the inner immortal fetus gets busy because you are almost gone, you experience it, and remember often what it felt like. Can lead to bits and pieces of the distant memories showing up, also behaviours. Qigong processes are not really necessary, but some sort of part of the pack. Mental abilities also on the long sight show up, possibly freaking you out, or giving you a hard time learning to handle it. It sounds like a funny thing to get open for the emotions of other people, but when you realize what kind of pr*ks are around, you get a problem not to smack everyone around the whole time. You will also face problems of trying to deal with problems of everyone, involving you in their life, because it feels like they are your problem. A Xian was a healer, a wise guy to guide the life of the village. Or wandering around solving problems. Kind of a shaman. The term xian comes from that times. I saw pictures of xian (Hsién) of old times, wearing bird costumes, like elders and shamans of simple folks back in the old china. A xiandao is the very similar thing, just without the shaman stuff, through meditation, "enlightenment", and teaching through another xian.

Maybe you would like to contact Luc Theler if he knows where the religious daoists are at now, and if the ones he met in the 90s are still there. Meeting is a different thing than talking, or reading.

o.k.,..and just a small addition; Remeber when the Football Coach would tell us' "Hey you guys, No sex the week of the Game!" ,..well, maybe Coach McHarris didn't really know 'why',..but it was for basically the same reason! No Burn-Out! Most body/iron-palm programs say; no sex for 100days, no sour foods, no vineagar, plenty of rest! Plus, just like aspirin isn't good for Everybody,...100 days of no flow/release isn't either! You should balence the Yin foods on the times you are retaining, and also try reverse breath,(when you inhale-nose think of your chi coming up the Front center-line of the body - then as you exhale-mouth, think of your chi going down your spine), this is the Cooling method for breath. So moderation, LISTEN to your own body's feedback, and SLEEP,..people over fifty should work a 20-min. nap into the middle of the day. Don't forget even going to the gym and having a good weight-lifting work-out , builds Chi, helps store Jing(different word than Fa-Jin which is 'explosive energy' or 'explosive-method'),and increases the positive 'feeling' to build the shen!

There is also a process where the reservoirs for lymph etc. of the upper body and the legs get connected to work as a whole, opening the secretion channels connecting them loosely. During that process when it's a bit open but not fully, having an orgasm can lead to EXTREME pain, especially when your liquids are from internal strength practice filled up with energy hormons like adrenalin and the likes. You can even start bleeding then, from small blood vessels tearing. Why exactly should be something a muscle metabolism expert should know, but the very same thing that happens on fajin (shaking of the muscle with STRONG contraction) then also happens to the muscles in the groin region, only that those couldn't take it. Guess why I know this ...

BTW, that same kind of pain can happen with not fully opened channels in the groin region when you jump from somewhat higher position down on a hard surface, with stomping impact to the flat feet. You land, with a bit of slam to the feet, and then it goes oweeee, like someone kicked you in the nuts. That's because with fully flooded channels in the leg, the impact travels through the liquid like in a hydraulics and ends up in the weakest place, which is the groin. If that connection is completely open, it goes to the stomach region, where it doesn't hurt for the large size. Sometimes, it isn't magic, just physics, or body stuff you can also read in a medical book.

That's correct,...there is the 'Shen-Di' exercise to keep the lymphatic system healthy. The old-version is useing a small bundle of tied bamboo-sticks,..massage dit-dat-jow over the rib-cage, spleen area(largest lymph), arm-pits & inside legs, then striking repeatedly around these areas with the bamboo bundle(aprx.' 40-reps or so in each of these areas), then again massage with the iron-hit-wine. Do this everyother day while holding-in Jing(essence).
