Rep Power: 220 | | | How do you know when you've achieved it?
You constantly have it in you, it wont stop.
The idea of harnessing magical Chi powers for super incredible skills is a movie myth and never will happen, with proper body mechanics you can gain more power in your strikes, part of that comes from being relaxed in body posture and proper alignment of your joints/muscles/body to maximize power distribution. Part of it comes from proper breathing methods, the combination of those two are what make the feats of Chi seem so incredible when it's nothing special.
You gain those skills from lots of practice, lots of training and hard work and patience |

Rep Power: 40 | | | Ki is the Japanese word for Chi. In Japanese Martial Arts, the approach to Chi/Ki is often quite different to the Chinese ways, and is often about externalizing Internal Force through the combination of form/verbal sound ( Kiaaay )/intention.

Rep Power: 100 | | | There is a "magic" power increase in some versions of "internal" metabolism optimizing, similar to what you could get out in life threatening situations and under doping.
However, the road there is not a super highway fastlane, it's a long, tedious process. Basically your best guess is simply doing Taijiquan arbitrarily slow and daily (as in SLOW, not teacher-i'm-in-a-hurry-to-get-the-class-done mode), and pick up a couple of strengthening exercises using a long pole (called pole shaking), doing that regularily too (daily to 2x a week). And then just wait until it shows up. It will gradually sneak in over time, a bit of it within a couple of months, some strength effects will come after 8 years and more (indicated by a significant weight gain unless you were fat to begin with).
You are there when you can push over people of your weight like ragdolls, feeling "easy". There is no way to "speed it up" (other than putting a gun to your head frequently) or say how long it will take for an individual who does the daily training routine.
Your best guess is pick up a top Chen style trainer who is able to SHOW this to YOU throwing you around like being hit from a bus, since getting exposed to it eases the learning of that. It also saves from falling to bozos and "secret magic style teachers".

Rep Power: 45 | | | On the opposite spectrum of what Mei said, some people do believe that you can in fact get more power if you channel your chi into your strikes. Some kung fu practitioners believe people can learn to control thier chi flow and channel it to certain parts of their body through various methods (breathing, tai chi, gi gong, etc...). Weather this is true or not is up for debate. I'm not saying that I believe it or don't believe it. I do believe in the life energy force known as chi though.

Rep Power: 100 | | | Yes, you can do that, but on the physical view it's plain something the body has and can do. Animals are when it counts tremendously more powerful than humans, given their strength-weight ratio. That is the reason - they just use "something" the human body has too. It's just switched off, for simple reasons. If you don't need to fight for your life, saving energy to need less food is an evolutionary prime goal. You can leave that mode if it is triggered, then your muscles get a lot more powerful, consuming a LOT more energy. Whether you call that "Qi", jing, or hormon driven is nomenclature.
