We use a lot of herb (so called herbs) in soup. Brothy chinese soup. Like dates, astralagus, dong chung chow (winter worm/spring grass), and many more. There are boiled with chicken or pork bones etc.
The thing is it is rather minute and one's body if functioning properly would absorb it and utilize them just fine.
I was referring to people slicing american ginseng and steeping it as tea or chewing it or boiling concoctions or making ginseng soup etc. Some of the herbs are great for chi but if someone does not use it properly, ...
E.g., a heart patient is given aspirin because it thins the blood. So someone who is afraid to have heart problems start taking one a day not realising that he has a problem already with blood not clotting properly. One day he gets a cut...
Medicine is also poison. Use with care and knowledge. Just because it helps with chi dosn't mean it will help you. My wife's chi is weak but her heart is weak as well. So taking ginseng will not only give her a headache but can cause nose bleeds. She takes other stuff to boost blood then boost chi after words.

agreed thats why I made the statement
then there are herbal medications to use instead of drugs
some forms of herbal mixes for workouts or to remove toxins- lot of simple use herbs - but your right about americans thinking ginseng is the cure all which it is not
- though I do use the tea but not the common ones like the korean red- I use good roots when I can get them.
I also use a few tinctures for certain things some single extracts some mixes. I have some that I have used for many years and some that my wife likes (with her medical background she knows more about it than I do).
My wife also uses some in cooking like you mentioned
For many years I used a chinese commercial brand for generic mixes called dragon eggs-
they use to make good combos but then they got very advanced in their formulas and lost a lot of customers do to so much work and study to stay up on understanding the topics on applications.

Most of the herbs I use are for making, and using, the dit da jow I sell. I use mostly Chinese herbs but also use a couple of American herbs that work wonders. Using certain herbs before doing a qi gong session can be quite an interesting experience.
Depending on what youre wanting to determine, there are some instances where the herbal remedy is not as effective as biomedicines answer--example, strep is treated more effectively with antibiotics than it is herbally, although certain herbal concoctions can inhibit the growth of streptococcus cells.
I also take vitamins. Mostly a Vitamin B complex, and Vitamin C less regularly.
I agree with Allan: Theres not much that ginseng can do for people under 40-50 years of age. After that it is precsribed far more often. | |
