Rep Power: 81 | | | lol, AGain I have to say its entirely possible to do that stuff in a static or controlled setting.
To Try it free form and see if it works is a whole other thing.
There are many ways the brain can be shut off or essentially hard booted.
A strong phsysical shock.
Lack of air or blood.
Sensory overload, which this can be likened to if you dont want to get into the "Chi" discussion.
Now the form is Called Golden Fist(kin Ken Kata). Its the one that has been Hottly debated over the past few weeks on fightingarts.com for similar reasons. And DragonSoul mentioned it hear because the video is being produced and released publicly.
And as far as I know its an Okinawan set. Which by its nature would tend to mean Strongly influenced by Some Chinese System.
I do have to say its got Some really cool stuf in it even form the point of view of someone who just likes forms.

One of my students went to a student of Dillman's and he had these performed on him and wasn't that impressed. For one thing, they didn't use a "touch" it was more like a quick strike on a relaxed person, and that's how I've seen them done on TV demos as well.

Rep Power: 11 | | I agree that dim mak, kyosho jitsu, are all rather gimicky, and a bit sales oriented. And, that their ability to apply these effectively are greatly exagerrated. But, in the simple controlled environment, they do have the ability to manipulate the human body by controlling these points. http://martialarts.jameshom.com/libr.../aa033102a.htm
The article explains that there are some medical correlations between what is being practiced. If you ignore the chi discussion on it all, you could say there are plenty of structural weeknesses that are the focus of alot of TMAs.
Even though they are gimicky, and novelty oriented. I do think that the knowledge isn't to just be completely disregarded. Like anything else, there is some usefulness. Except for yellow bamboo, thats just stupid.

Rep Power: 100 | | | of course the knowledge is important, and the applications have an effect and yes CMA/TMA focuses a lot on the weakness and on manipulation of the body...thats a lot of the art....and people that have little knowledge will be amazed

Rep Power: 11 | | | ive seen a tv demo on ripley's,
the guy punches at the master full force,(he said it wouldnt work otherwise) the master grabs/slaps his wrist and kicks him in the bicep area with an outside to inside crescent kick, the guy falls down and paramedics rush to him and observe his heart on an akg moniter... it raoidly slows down to a complete stop, then the master rushes to him, slaps the guy on the back, and the guys heart rate shoots back up and he is concious 2 minutes later. these were real paramedics.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Let's see what's funny is..... that anyone depending on it to work in say a bar brawl with the adrenaline flowing is going to get ruthlessly beaten. Note that none of the armed services depend on these magic tricks in their unarmed combat training. |

Rep Power: 90 | | | I saw this episode on Batman the cartoon, where hundreds of years agoe a master developed a touch killing system so effective that he hid the scrolls away forever, and Batman had to try and recover them from a bad guy and protect em.!!!
O.K. K'mon people. Rule number one, very little is impossible untill proven so. I do not discount anything, but in this I do hold reservations until I experience it for myself. We have pressure point fighting in Hap Ki Do to, but we dont knock people out cold or stop their heart beat with a poke of the finger or a flick of the wrist. It is like Missouri, the show me state. Show me! |
