Rep Power: 46 | | | FEMA Dumps Brown as Katrina Relief Chief Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown, left, listens as Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announces Friday, ... FEMA Dumps Brown As Katrina Relief Chief By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The administration dumped FEMA Director Michael Brown as commander of Hurricane Katrina relief operations Friday as President Bush stoked memories of the 2001 terror attacks, hailing the "extraordinary bravery" of rescue personnel.
Brown, who had come to personify a relief operation widely panned as bumbling, will be replaced by Coast Guard Vice Adm. Thad W. Allen. Allen had been in charge of relief, recovery and rescue efforts for New Orleans. http://www.comcast.net/news/index.js...09/218282.html

I like this bit:
Brown is quoted as saying:
"I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife, and maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep.
"And then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims."
Not that I begrudge anybody a stiff drink - but is this the sort of thing you tell the press after you've been slapped down? No sense of professionalism. No sense. Good riddance. (maybe he'll go back to judging horses - or helping people write resumes?

Rep Power: 81 | | | I just dont get it. Like Anyone who wold have seen his resume before would have intuitively thought, "Hey that guy should be put in charge of FEMA".
What a Donut.

Rep Power: 17 | | | Speculation now:
Did the White House plump up his resume for the approval hearings for his appointment?
Is that why he's now the scapegoat?
Why blame the boss who hired an unqualified moron (and who happendd to be a college roomate of Joseph Allbaugh - former FEMA head)?
If the Whitehouse did a cursory check on his qualifications - they must have seen that he would be a hard one to pass - so why not make up some stuff and add it to the resume?
Brown even said that he didn't know where this was coming from.
If White House staffers primped the resume (without his knowledge) this all rings true. In a way he was screwed. He was knowingly hired without qualifications - somebody lied to get an old buddy in. Then he actually had to do the job.
Jumped in the deep end of the pool - with no swimming skills.
Having no abilities or sense - he doesn't ask for help (he's on the crony gravy train... why fuss with work?) and millions suffer and die.
I look at the boss.
Either
A: He doesn't check qualifications for strategic positions
OR
B: He Thinks that being a failed horse judge is all that it takes to run FEMA
Either way - the boss is to blame.
So that is why the resume lies are leaked to the press - that is why he is blamed for the failings.
Shoot him down! Before he hits the president!

Rep Power: 0 | | | We need James Lee Witt Associates to run this recovery effort for these morons. They are a firm made up of Clinton's FEMA staff that now consults with state governments, city governments and private bussinesses in regards to disaster planning.

Rep Power: 155 | | | Bush needs to learn from supposedly favourite sycophant Blair. Vision is the leader's role, bearing the blame the subordinates. Get them to resign as soon as it's obvious they're in the corner, and then appoint them head of something else a few months later.
