Don't worry Aardia im not light on my feet by any stretch of the imagination either. My legs act like trees feet hit the ground and root. I tend to at least start with my strong arm forward. I feel I can hit just fine with one fist slightly forward. I sometimes will step forward or side to side etc. to change my foot position up. When I do I just move the hands in a straight line fashion. If my right is leading (about mid chest level) and eft is closer to my left jaw then I simply move my right hand up and left down to trade levels.
If you can try push hand exercises at speed. It may help your reaction timing.
From taking note of what I do while actually sparring the other day, I realise I don't actually lead with any arm ( except with knife sparring I normally lead with the knife arm, my right ), I lead with a leg, about 60% my left and 40% my right, and I square my hips/shoulders towards my opponent as much as possible. I find that really gives your Jab more knockout power as well as giving what would normally be your front ( sharp ) hook more power/torque.

This book is very good, covers pretty much everything for bagwork including partner drills, footwork and combinations. He even covers hand wraps and ring psychology/generalship among other things. Alibris: 9494022910

My bag work is pretty limited, and even more so now that I have nowhere to hang the blasted thing. But in order to work more endurance we used a 25-minute routine as a warm-up for the class. We did 2 minute rounds for each element (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) hands, then feet, then 5 minutes of everything. During the rounds, we would be encouraged to move and strike and not just sit, as well as to consitantly be throwing a technique. It was pretty rough and I bloodied my knuckles fairly well...but I enjoyed it.
Have you seen any improvement since you posted this originally Aaradia? What method(s) have you been using?

Looks cool. Will check it out. Have you read it yourself ?
WraithAlcon,
My main training partner lives in a flat complex that doesn't allow for hanging any equipment. All he has is Kali sticks, 2x 3 pound weights, and himself. He *****es about wanting a bag, but he makes pretty good use of his time doing Shadow Boxing, combined with weights and bodyweight exercises for power.

Have owned it for many years. Great text. Whole book is set up like a complete workout too. Starts with Benny's philosophy and covers pretty much everything a striker could want. Love his fight energy. Look up some bouts if you've never seen him fight. He'd win before the first bell rang.

A quick suggestion - when interval training do push hands drills with the bag in your "rest" period. Keep your breathing correct, your form perfect, and your stance high enough to protect your knees. It will strengthen your knees etc and, if you are disciplined enough, reinforce some stuff to do with breathing and recovery times which tai chi is great for.

He's a classic. He said once that he only counts his title defenses. I think he had 64, 57 by way of knockout.

We do wall push ups one side at a time. Start with you feet a little ways from the wall lean against the wall with the body twisted sideways and your forearm palm on the wall, push off with your palm as your body turns to face the wall again.
Also, nothing wrong with knee push ups. Vary your arm position and try doing it with fists/knuclesdown.
