Rep Power: 82 | | | Recommendations for Interval Timers? The title pretty much sums it up. I want to get an interval timer. Not one of those big expensive ones but a personal one for my bag workouts, and (later) timing rounds while jumping rope.
I did a little research on the Internet and am leaning towards this one Gymboss Interval Timer: perfect for workouts : improves your body for life , but was wondering if any of you have any thoughts on this or other brands to look at or even ones to be sure to stay away from.
The reviews are skewed by the fact that gymboss seems to give away t-shirts for proving you write good reviews about them on Internet forums, but I trust you all here.
Any and all input is much appreciated.

Rep Power: 54 | | Looks fine, but if you really want to maximize your time, use a heart rate monitor with an interval timer built in.
It will cost a lot more, (ones with the interval function start just under $100 i believe)but you get a much better device. If you do rounds, the idea is to keep the intensity up, the hrm helps you do this. Polar USA

Rep Power: 82 | | That is very good advice bobblehead, but I am afraid quite out of my price range for a while. $100 is just too steep for now.
I will put it down as something to get in the future, but right now I will have to stick to just getting an Interval timer, as they range from 15 to 30 dollars.

If price is an issue, there is no need to pay lot's of money to get what you need. The beauty of Boxing training is that it can be done without spending a ton of money.
a nice way to get a cheap interval timer is just to take one of those old analogue wall clocks ( open face so you can push the hands ) and to force the "seconds hand" to where you want it. That is how Bas Rutten does it on his Extreme Pancrase fitness workout video.

Myself?
Never bothered with spending money on expensive timers, a stop watch or my own self counting have always been enough and worked as well as anything else. |

Agreed, hr #'s can also be had this way, just count your pulse at your throat for 15 sec. and multiply by 4. Use the chart on the polar link i posted to figure out zones and you're in business. (Rickson Gracie can be seen using this method on his doc "Choke.")
ps. I have a cheesy Everlast timer hanging next to my speedbag/double end bag to simply count time, i think it was $10 (many wris****ches have interval timers and egg timers work just as well for less, but don't have the boxing bell!). That said the hrm is such a good tool, i bought the simple timer after i acquired the hrm.

Rep Power: 155 | | | I've used a kitchen timer a lot, (under £5.00) though you waste time with the buttons. Also the cheapest stopwatch I could find from local market stalls (usually under £2.00) - again they can be a minor hassle but it's not stressfull when you drop them/jump on them/leave them in your locker/ or otherwise destroy them in any of the million foolish ways I tend to.
