Sorry, couldn't find any clips apart from the one above of old "ong xen xen" nattering on. It's a shame because I've seen the film I suspect that clip came from and there's some good push hands in it. I don't train that lineage any more so sadly I can't pop out and make more footage
I guess I could post clips of my teacher throwing me around - always a laugh for every one to see - but I've only just started moving step again after a long break and there's plenty of bad push hands on youtube already.
It was the "wash" that really caught my eye - I was taught it by one of huan suen sen's ("ong xen xen", the white crane guy who trained with CMC) students. I came to it from Chi sau and thoroughly appreciated the difference between the rather choppy chi sau I learned and the more tactical, subtle, push hands. The "five exercises" sounds very familiar too. Do you do "seven point pushing" as a beginner's drill?

i am not familiar with the term "7 point pushing" what is it?
It's a beginners drill where one player pushes the other (seven times) and they practice yielding, then you swap over. Hardly the most exciting way to spend half an hour but a useful step towards thoroughly understanding push hands. Maybe I should start a thread on how push hands is taught...

ahhh yes ... we do that practice but i have never heard a name for it ...
A freak. If he usually does this at the speed of the man in the clip above, hats off. Shows how it looks when you spent some time practicing ...

You just wanted to make us feel bad. It's not natural to be that good.

Hi John,
You may have seen this one already: my teacher, Wang Yen-nien, performing Yangjia Michuan Taijiquan, Sec. 1. This is the style I practice and love.
