32 sword variations

This is a form with a lot of variation out there.

I'm curious about one in particular.

Just after the third turn, immediately following the step back with the sword at eye level on the left (as if admiring reflection in the sword) there's a downward stabbing motion. The next move is either a repeat on the other side so the sword moves in a figure of 8 or a normal dropping cut.

The cut version is on the video at 2:36.

I'm curious about the origins of the figure of 8 version.

I'll try and put together video of the two versions for comparison.

Looked pretty much like the standard version to me, though he just didn't do some of the techniques particularly well.

seems the figure 8 version is the standard after some digging. Can't find any one who knows where the cut comes from.

I thought that downward cut was part of the standard version too, but I could be thinking of a different form. It's been 2 or 3 years since I practiced 32 sword, so my memory is a little fuzzy.
