Hypnosis

Still struggling with hip flexibility and so not going low enough in my tai chi or using the waist enough.

It's almost certainly not a physical limitation since I can do some fairly intense hip opening yoga postures. Double pigeon? No problem. Butterfly? Easy. Lotus variations? Lotus crow no problem. Other postures and tai chi moves that use a very similar range of movement are "impossible".

Faced with a significant and unshifting mental block my teacher is suggesting I try hypnosis. Not surprisingly I'm reluctant (if I was happy "letting go" I wouldn't have the problem in the first place).

Has any one used hypnosis as part of training? What did it involve? Did it help?

I have used E.M.D.R. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (reprogramming).
It uses the same principles, but you don't go "under".
I used it for P.T.S.D. and fear of flying. My son had success with it for nail biting.
Google it. It's painless.

Look for NLP, and Richard Bandler. NLP, is hypnosis at its best.
