Chen Pan Ling Tai Chi Noob

I have found an instructor who is beginning to teach me the Chen Pan Ling 99 set. I was wandering if anyone could give me information about the style. I have an extremely modest background in bagua, hsing i and tai chi (yang and chen man ching). I understand that this is a combined style and that Chen Pan Ling was an acknowledge hsing i/bagua master. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to taiwandeutscher for the mention.

Willow,
I would suggest checking out the info I have over at my blog in the CPL taiji section:
CPL taiji

There's quite a few technical posts on various aspects of CPL's taiji. I will be adding much more this year. I will also soon be starting a study of his bagua and xingyi.

I would also highly suggest that you get a copy of his taiji book. There's lots of info about him, the form is laid out step-by-step, there are applications, and the classics are even included. A real gem of a book.

I'm not actually a newcomer, just back after a long absence. I teach Gao style baguazhang and stuff in Boston sometimes. I'm giving a little workshop in Brookline later this month on the shenfa mthods I teach.

BTW I second Dave's suggestion about his blog--good stuff.

There are a surprising number of CPL schools out there. I know of some in Calgary, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, two cities in Texas, NY, Europe -- all over. You can sometimes find the Chen Pan Ling text on eBay. I have it and love it. Great book. Video clips and more info available here: Tai Chi Chuan
